Today's guest column "Jobs" was - Boris Batin. He is one of Moneyman service managers, allowing to obtain microloans without leaving home.
Boris will tell and show how his work is built, which "iron" and the software it uses. In addition, you will find out what we have in the iPhone and how to combine business and training.
What do you do at work?
Just over a year ago, I and my companion Alexander Dunaev launched an online service that allows you to receive microloans via the Internet - Moneyman.ru. This is quite a complex software product that can analyze user data in real time and immediately issue a decision. Together with Sasha we run now, we communicate with investors and developing the project.
How does your workplace? What hardware are using?
At work I use multiple displays: the 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt Display monitor and the connected 13-inch MacBook Air laptop. Every day I encounter financial models and reports of their employees, where a lot of numbers, so it is convenient to have a large monitor for comparison of documents and data. It helps in the preparation of presentations. On the laptop I usually open mail and Skype.
I switched to Apple about a year ago, previously used Sony and Dell. The main reasons - boot time and battery. In the Sony, of course, a familiar operating system, but until it is loaded, you lose patience. And Apple has opened - and it immediately begins to work. Well, the charge on the MacBook I have enough for 5-6 hours, when at the same Sony loading dies for 1.5 hours.
Our company has two offices in Moscow and the main extra in Minsk. For communication we use a large monitor that is connected to the PC via HDMI and wireless keyboard. With the help of Skype, we are seeing each other's work in real time, holding meetings and briefings.
Since I work not only in the office, but sometimes at home, all of my work and home appliances are connected to each other: printers, faxes, scanners are on the same network. I am also an avid user of Dropbox and LiveDrive to had constant access to your files from any device.
If we talk about the mobile phone, I went three years ago on the iPhone. This is a great device, which is convenient to read e-mail, store and view files. Moreover, he has the best built-in camera, the quality of which still do not have analogues in the smartphone market. True, it has its drawbacks. In particular, the iPhone call quality is not as good as the Nokia, but had to endure disadvantages for other new technologies.
Especially on long journeys I use mostly just a telephone. I lead an active lifestyle. Recently, I had an interesting experience - I was crossing Mexico on the bike. iPhone features enough to hold meetings on Skype, check email, and be aware of all the important things.
Also, sometimes I'm training, getting ready for a competition and in parallel discussions with our partners in business affairs across the plate.
What software use?
If we talk about the OS, I have a hard MAC OS X, a bit unusual for me and probably for many who grew up on Windows. More advanced users use just 2 operating systems: it is convenient, as some programs do not work on the Mac, but I have not yet reached. As for mail, Outlook I am a fan, but he somehow disgusting works on the Mac, so now I use web-interface Yandex and Google. I have, incidentally, a little "sick" attitude to address verification - I go into it first thing when I wake up, and during the day is about as common as checking the time.
Is there a place in your paper work?
Yes, of course. Firstly, I have on the table a large sheet of paper. Very handy when you need something to write quickly.
Secondly, I use to work even daily, and ordinary notebook, where I write down the results of the meetings and their plans for the day. Very kind I belong to the paper, although it would be logical to go to a meeting with iPads, as many do. But I still can not be reconstructed - read paper books and make notes in a notebook.
Is there a dream configuration?
Personally I would have liked more rapid synchronization of all programs. For example, e-mail saved in Yandex, and it is automatically pumped up in the phone's contacts. Also would not prevent the existence of applications with user-friendly interface, which would be like on a computer and on the phone, where you can keep track of what tasks our programmers at one time or another time.
