Workplaces / / December 27, 2019
Alexander Belotserkovsky
Expert on strategic Microsoft technologies. The main directions - cloud and high-performance computing (HPC) and Internet of Things. He graduated from Tomsk Polytechnic University, "Optimization of control systems." I got a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award in the direction of Microsoft Azure cloud platform. He is writing articles, speaking at the Russian and international IT-events.
What do you do in your work?
I am a technology evangelist at Microsoft. I am doing what helps partners build their solutions using our technology and tools, as well as I talk about what we do to the public at conferences, mitapah, Hackathon and other events in Russia and Not only. Now my direction: the Internet of Things, cloud computing and ecosystem development.
Also, I am one of the authors, for a long time and constantly publish content on our corporate blog at "Habrahabr", the nickname @ahriman. It is also part of the job responsibilities, but often enough can occur under the influence of the creative impulse.
What is your occupation?
Graduate of the optimization of the Tomsk Polytechnic University of Control Systems. Prior year OSU went to another department, as long as this process is not violated Maxwell's equations. I was born in Nizhnevartovsk, and my parents had studied and lived in Tomsk. Therefore, there I was quite consciously - at that time all matched so that I found myself in this university.
During training, he began working in the department - in one place, then another - until he was system administrator, and in combination - the teacher of additional courses and developer of supercomputing Cluster University. Sometimes it was hard work, but always interesting. Tasks that are flocking to the cluster - is a whole world, a complex and global.
In the process, Microsoft started a course in Microsoft Innovation Center, and a few years later in the first Russia received the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award in the direction of Microsoft's cloud platform Azure. Then he moved on to work on Azure teleseylom direction in the CIS, then became a Microsoft technology evangelist and moved to Moscow.
For me, education is only meaningful if this knowledge can then be put into practice. For example, the English language is used continuously in translation and publishing articles somewhere on the "Habrahabr" and skills Object-oriented programming in Java at the time helped in the writing labs and so Further.
Of course, I still think that some of the subjects that were taught in the university, I do not need, but even more examples of my experience is so rare that I was invited to London to conduct a seminar on the parallel programming.
What should be sure to know and people working in your field?
Very well need to know something, tell what. It is important to understand how it works from the inside. If you know that most of the questions can be answered off the cuff. It is important to speak.
More important to love and be able to communicate with people. Sometimes it is difficult, given the density of trips (sometimes up to 5-7 per week of reports in different cities) but without a sincere interest to the audience, to its sometimes tricky questions of good performances do not out. The preparation of any content (both text and presentation) - a controversial process in which many factors affect the final result. Sometimes I feel like delete any unit from the presentation because "because everybody knows it," but if there is no certainty that the event will be a powerful experts, it is better not to do so.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
It is hard to say. Despite the well-known to all the recommendations - to write out their strengths and weaknesses, analyze them and work on them - I am not inclined to speculate on such topics.
However, there is one characteristic feature of me. I always try out every opportunity to make the most. If you feel that the idea is excellent, but I did not have the time or enthusiasm for it, then try to find the person to whom it will be interesting, and I give it to him. While this approach works. I often get less than a specialist, realize my idea, but this is my joy becomes less for him. I appreciate the responsiveness to people, appreciation and the ability to turn ideas into reality.
Of weaknesses - I do not like planes. :)
Well, I like to be myself, so when people ask me about my strengths and weaknesses of terms, the answer may be different on different days, and for that I love myself. Be yourself - it always works! And never close the door to those who want to log back into your life.
How does your workplace?
"Iron"
I often work away from the office, home and workplace I migrate from the kitchen table to the floor, from the floor to the chair, out of the house in the "Chocolate" and so on.
On my desktop, in addition to the reel stands for everything that is near, and not only have my photos with other people, two characters from Minecraft (one I drink, second-mus), laptop and monitor.
I no longer use for work and personal use anything other than laptops: operating a laptop in my Lenovo X1 Carbon with Windows 10, personal - ASUS Zenbook with Windows 10.
I have five different phones, two of which - corporate Windows Phone, three more - personal, too, Windows Phone, I use after charging. I forget to charge your phone, so the mission is their number important. There are a couple of external batteries that I, too, remember in backpacks. Constantly with me Orange Lumia 930.
BY
I do not have servers, storage with your favorite music and movies in a decade has accumulated only two gigabytes of photos. I try to be more mobile and to have fewer wires.
Apps that I use:
- Application of "Aeroflot" (to understand what's going on with my flight);
- Shazam;
- Telegram;
- Poki for Pocket;
- "Yandex. Taxi".
I turned off all push-notification, to which I have reached, - I have enough application possibilities. Must have - Poki and Shazam.
Workflows I unequivocally linked with the newest versions of the software from Microsoft - the lion's share of my speeches dedicated to them, and in order to properly introduce the possibility of IBM products, you need them deal.
It:
- OS - Windows 10;
- Browser - Microsoft Edge / «Yandex. Browser";
- mail client - Outlook 2016;
- messengers - Skype (for personal and business communication), Skype for Business (for working), Slack (for some projects), KVirc;
- Web services - Feedly (collecting interest me information flows, the amount of which exceeded a few hundred), KudaGo (handy digest of events) and Afisha (similarly);
- Code Editor - Visual Studio Code and Sublime.
Is there a place in your paper work?
Notepad comes into play when I understand (or remember) that I need more feedback from the instrument. I can not make plans for cases electronically - crossed out I like them when I made them (or did not), the hands, and not delegate this pleasure tick. I have a personal blog, which I'm usually in flight. This, of course, Moleskine.
What is in your bag?
I have half a dozen bags and backpacks, which I use for different purposes and in mood.
Basic backpack, exposed in the picture, use most often. It fits everything you need:
- Two laptop or notebook and tablet;
- charging device;
- mobile phones;
- documentation;
- adapters;
- one Ethernet-cable black five meters (the year I did not understand why I wear it, but you never know);
- book - I've always necessarily with a paper book, I can not read e. Currently I am reading It's Complicated: The Social Lives of Networked Teens.
The picture below is my main travel ammunition. That is the minimum, and in 9 of 10 cases - the maximum that I have carried with me on business trips, regardless of geography: Tomsk, Seattle or Prague.
How do you organize your time?
I tried to follow some method of time management, but it is impossible. In my nature to follow what is born in the process. I work in a normal mode (with the prioritization of some cases) as long as I do not understand that problems it was so much, that the attempt to remember all of them may turn out a failure, and I'm sure that some I forget.
Then I sit down at the table, take a notebook and write out all the cases. This happens very spontaneously, sometimes once a month, sometimes less. Of services to help understand what is happening, I use RescueTime - I do not really need advanced analytics, I need the number, from which I can draw on. If RescueTime at the end of the day or week sent me a letter in which the value "was busy useful things" is less than 80%, I start to analyze. If more, then continue.
What's your daily routine?
I feel the same way, waking too early and waking up late. I try not to start your morning coffee. For some unknown reason, I do not feel any effect from this drink until ten in the morning.
My productivity depends on what I'm doing. Sometimes I fall into the trap with some problems that can be solved quickly, but I do not know how, so save them for an indefinite period. In such cases, I ask advice of other people, even those who do not apply to this problem. And I think that's right - if you ran out of internal resources, we must attract external. :)
How to pass the time in traffic jams?
I am a very bad way to stand, so I live in one metro stop from our office Krylatsky hills. If you have to travel far, then I put on headphones and read books.
My player for a long time is the Lumia 930 before it was iRiver t30. For me, the perfect player to work from ordinary batteries, rather than from its own battery. These players, meet me, I stopped to see for a long time, so switched to music from the phone.
headphones - bose QC25. I do not like when the music background noise, so noise reduction - my choice.
What's your hobby?
Before playing the electroacoustic guitar Ibanez (model à lathis). But with the move to Moscow Guitar stayed at home (only get in the rhythm of Moscow). The music did not study and did not want to play on the tablature that was, for example, waltzes. :)
Once upon a time closely involved in climbing, went to the Tien-Shan, he participated in several climbs. From there, I learned that for me the most beautiful thing in nature - mountains.
What place sport occupies in your life?
I go to a personal trainer once or twice a week at the club next to the office. Personal Trainer - it's expensive, but worth it. I have a definite relationship: I like to play sports in the company when someone else is around. This is the usual physical training in the gym. I do not like swimming and running - after some time, I became insanely boring, no matter what I did.
Physical training - is very important. But parallel to this you need to take care of their health: to have the habit to be surveyed every N months, go for a massage, and so on. Often forgotten or deliberately do not, but I believe that it is wrong.
Layfhakerstvo from Alexander Belotserkovsky
I have read and continue to read a lot of paper books. At a convenient service GoodReads I have a profile, and I try to write in addition to the scoring is more or less audible feedback.
From recently I read a book I really liked The End of Absence: Reclaiming What We've Lost in a World of Constant Connection. It's about what we have lost in this age of constant connectivity.
I love the works of Dana Boyd (Danah Boyd), She holds the position of chief scientific officer at Microsoft Research and lecturing in New York. Wise man wrote about social things, and now I'm reading her book It's Complicated: The Social Lives of Networked Teens about why young people use the Internet and social networks, and what motivates them. Very interesting, simple and informative.
Another favorite book - American Icon: Alan Mulally and the Fight to Save Ford Motor Company. This is the story of the struggle for the future of Ford and Alan Mulally in particular. Interesting, easy to read, and you can learn a lot.
If we talk about moviesThen we go to almost all the premiere in the cinema. It is like "Interstellar". We went to him four times, and each time something was new. Then I bought a book on the scientific consultant of the film.
Of TV series clear favorite "face»(Fringe),«black sails»(Black Sails) and"scary stories»(Penny Dreadful). First - science fiction, made, in my opinion, with great love; the second - a retelling of the history of "Treasure Island"; third - "halophyte" from a variety of stories that take place in London, perfect for those who are thinking about what will happen if Victor Frankenstein acquainted with Dorian Gray, and what happens if an obvious analogue of Phantom of the Opera to appear in this company and werewolf.
Favourite actress — Eva Green. Favorite actor is not.
sites I read via RSS. If a site does not have RSS, with a high probability I read him forget. In my belt a few hundred blogs and other resources.
What is your life motto?
One of my favorite phrases - "all that you smiled." :)
Perhaps this is part of the credo, but all of the outlined credo I have ever had. I'm trying to bring to this world good. In some aspects, I understand that I can not make a big breakthrough, but if I can contribute to this, be sure to help.
As this is what I want to say as a farewell to readers Layfhakera.
Carefully treat this life, do not let unnecessary information flows lead you astray or detract from the plans. Be sure to help others: perhaps it is a little help young researcher will be your contribution to the new scientific revolution. And never say "never" - all the people of whom I said that "I will never work with them", works or has worked with me. And more read paper books. :)
