Before ABBYY worked in the Dell Corporation and started recruiting ITmozg.ru project. Teaches a course Startup Boards: Advanced Entrepreneurship for foreign students at the St. Petersburg State University of Economics. Frequent speaker IT-events.
What do you do in your work?
The scope of my responsibility as Vice President and Director of the Department of Lingvo and mobile products include the development, promotion and sales in the global market of multiplatform programs Company ABBYY. These are two large areas: one of them is aimed at web audience, the other - on users' mobile devices.
Prior to joining ABBYY, I founded and led the company ITmozg.ru. We managed to make the largest portal for online recruiting IT-experts in Russia and the CIS.
What is your occupation?
His first education I received in St. Petersburg - Graduated from St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation. My specialty - "Applied Informatics in Economics", that is, on the one hand, I'm a programmer, and on the other - like it is not. Now my job is only partly coincides with the special diploma. Programmer in pure form I was short-lived.
I started to work from the second year. I was able to try yourself as a retreat and a system administrator and programmer, tester and software in various companies. It was quite fun and at the same time a difficult time: it was necessary to make money and often had to miss his studies. But this experience allowed me to learn how people work and do business in different areas - from buying non-ferrous metals to the development of large international IT-companies.
I was always interested to learn from the best, but in the early 2000s, it was very difficult. Then, when I got my own business, I began to devote more time to education, including the additional - different courses, lectures and so on. In ITmozg we spent a year about 50 events, it was as small workshops for 20-30 people, and international conferences. For example, jQuery Russia c 700 guests from around the world. Organizing such events, I not only got to meet new people, but also learned a lot from the speakers.
In 2011, he studied at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. I tried as much as possible personally meet and communicate with interesting entrepreneurs to me and the people who have already achieved a lot: Richard Branson (Richard Branson), Guy Kawasaki (Guy Kawasaki), Steve Blank (Steve Blank), Erik Rees (Eric Ries). Recently finally got to listen to Elon Musk (Elon Musk) and talk a little with him. Now I'm interested in the educational business program, so I recently graduated from Pragmatic Marketing series of courses and passed the certification of the Silicon Valley.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I'm pretty easy to plunge into a new can quickly learn, for example, a new programming language or approach to doing business. I tend to persistence, many people say that I never give up. This is an important quality for someone who wants to have their own business. After all, you always something will interfere to go forward, every day there will be new obstacles and difficulties.
I am a perfectionist. On the one hand, this is a plus: it helps a lot to do. On the other - negative. When big business, we must be able to delegate responsibilities and perfectionist is never easy. I hurt it a lot: it seems as if you can do it all himself better, but ultimately did not have enough time and resources. Now actively I delegate, so I try to work only with people you trust 200%.
I am inspired by people who have achieved a lot.
I also prevents multitasking. While I can not be reconstructed, but work hard to think only about what one thing.
Also, I think I trust people too. Previously, it often prevents businesses, especially in heavy negotiations. However, notice that over time, becoming stiffer.
How does your workplace?
I need to be aware of new market applications and in business in general. Therefore, I have always at hand a huge number of phones on different platforms. Set them goes five-port USB-charging.
If we talk about the office, on the desktop - MacBook 12 "and iMac. Working two 27-inch monitors. It's an old habit, and so I get the best performance.
I spend a lot of time on business trips, and my only tool of work - this MacBook. Since I travel a lot, I learned to work from anywhere at any time. Really I love working on the plane. I get to spend time effectively in flight: the absence of external stimuli and the Internet is very this help, and simple external battery and the USB-C cable provides me autonomy 15-20 hours.
If we talk about where it is more convenient to work, in the office. I find it difficult without a team: colleagues charge and cheer up.
Tablets do not use: me it is uncomfortable. Home of the gadgets only Apple TV.
I dream of a private island somewhere where it's warm.
Previously fond of photography. Even weddings photographed, and I paid for it. :) I have a suitcase with different lenses and accessories. But now photography is not enough time. Bought a small mirrorless camera Sony and everywhere take it with you. My inner perfectionist pleased with the quality of photos.

As we work in the global market, I set the application weight. If we talk about must-have, then set as follows:
- mail client - a native iOS-client and Outlook;
- for negotiations and meetings - Lingvo, FineScanner and BCR;
- business trips - Uber, Get, Aviasales, Maps.me, SecureVPN.
More and always I use News360 Flipboard.
Since we are developing a web-based products, to test them, I use all known browsers. But mostly I work in Safari and Chrome.
In addition, I have a few messengers to communicate with partners and friends. To communicate with Asian partners - WeChat, for partners in Russia, Europe and America - WhatsApp and Telegram, for friends - Facebook Messenger.
Calendars and planners use the standard. All data, which are obtained during the day, write down in a notebook or in the notes within iOS.
Text editors - Microsoft Office, Editor - Photoshop.
Is there a place in your paper work?
Accustomed to read from the screen, so print a document very often. Notebook use, only to write down some things during the day.
What is in your bag?
I do not like to carry a lot of things, especially since it's not provided, and a new pair of socks or exercises you can always buy.
The trips go to a conventional backpack with wardrobe trunk for a suit. I always have a lot of meetings, and without a suit, especially in Asia, it is impossible.
From gadgets to travel with me two iPhone (one - for the Russian numbers, the second - for the US), two Android (usually Nexus 6 and Xiaomi MI4), a laptop, a pair of batteries and headphones Parrot Zik. They are now saved from the noise in an airplane. And, of course, lie in a bag passport, GoPro and every little thing like wires and aspirin.
How do you organize your time?
I think that the main problem of time management is that the methods are many, but none of them is perfect, and really does not work.
It helps me only this way: subscribe to your contact book all the tasks you need to do during the day, and check this list in the morning and evening. In this case, I do not use any software. I used to use Clear, but stopped.
What's your daily routine?
Usually I go to two hours a night, get up around eight or nine in the morning. But now a global business, a lot of negotiations with the various offices and partners around the world. It is strongly hit by the schedule: you can start your day with a dialogue with partners from Asia, seven in the morning and finish at 12 am communicating with the office in the Valley.
I'm easier to work in the mornings and evenings, when the flow of external noise is minimal, is still (or already) sleep, you can not be distracted by mail.
After a day - usually 21-22 hours - try to turn off the brain: for sports or resting with his family.
For me it is important to the happiness of my family. It is in the first place.
How to pass the time in traffic jams?
I try to spend the least time in airports and traffic jams. I rented an apartment in the center to go to the office and back to the opposite side of the total flow, and arrive at the airport just before departure.
If I have free time, I spend it on something to parse mail, or statistical analysis of our applications and services.
What place sport occupies in your life?
Business is very similar to sports events: also need to plow and to achieve results. Many after work is not up to the sport. But I find it hard to do without physical exertion, because I have grown professionally engaged in skiing and athletics. Therefore, always I find time for sports, despite the employment and laziness.
Twice a week in the evenings I play football, winter skiing, summer - on a wakeboard. In this case, I try to do with the coach.
Often sit in the office and think: "Outside, minus 10, the blizzard. How will we run now? ". But after training come with a positive charge, it just did not pass.
