Yuri Belousov
Director of Development and automotive portals Drive.ru DRIVE2.RU. He started his career as a reporter for the online newspaper, was chief editor of the portal "Driver St. Petersburg." Was the manager of the regional development "Yandex. Transport ", was responsible for the quality of" Yandex. Navigator "in the CIS.
What do you do in your work?
Who I am engaged in the development of Russia's largest community of machines and people and DRIVE2.RU online magazine Drive.ru. These projects bring together millions of users and thousands of businesses who want to communicate, learn something new and, of course, to find clients.
My main task - commercial: the sale of media advertising for small and medium-sized automotive products country, automation and optimization of advertising purchases to monetize ordinary users and their vanity.
What is your occupation?
I graduated from the Mathematics and Mechanics Department of St. Petersburg State University, majoring in "Mechanics. Applied math". But in the third year I began to work in one of the largest Russian media - "Fontanke.ru". First correspondent and later became responsible for the direction and automotive portal "Driver St. Petersburg."
Not hard to guess that the mathematical education did not help me to write an article or conduct investigative journalism. But long-term study did not pass in vain. Thanks to her, I bought the harmony of mind and learned to structure the information.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
From personal qualities help me sociability and openness, and prevents a feature, which is trying to fight - is the idea that I have something does not work, it is wrong to do. At such moments, I try to break yourself, make sure that everything is possible. You just need to think about.
In humans, the most important quality for me - the constant desire to try something new and not be afraid of difficulties.
How does your workplace?
At home I do not have a dedicated work space - with a laptop, it can be anywhere. In the office, "Drive" I have a table, a chair and an artificial flower. But the principle is the same - a workplace where I am with the laptop.
I use a Macbook Pro and iPhone 6s. The notebook is with me 95% of the time the phone - always.
From the browser I use Chrome and Safari. Origin for basic operation. There I have set bookmarks bar with dozens of important pages (various admin, useful services and social networks). Safari can manage a separate subproject.
Faster switching between browsers than among users in Chrome.
Plus it provides additional validation of innovation performance in different browsers.
Basic communication in the company takes place in Slack: Channels for all projects, personal communication between employees and bookmarks with important messages and information.
Next in importance - Facebook Messenger for easy discussion and video calls. For weekly planorok use Skype each time grieve because of its unpredictable work.
To work with the tasks and planning use Asana - pretty simple tracker that solves 90% of the tasks. I use the web version on the desktop and the application on iOS.
Next comes the mail, it takes approximately 5-7% of communication. Use Mail on your Mac and iOS. Gmail's web interface I do not like.
applications most important to me on the phone: Slack, Facebook Messenger, Asana, Skype, Mail. Also very popular bookmarks in the browser to the page with the statistics of advertising in "Yandex" and Google, handed down to the Home screen. They do not have a mobile version of any application, so you have to use the inconvenient of desktop interfaces.
All messengers push-notifications are enabled. I try to always be aware of what is happening and respond quickly.
Is there a place in your paper work?
Next to the laptop always keep a notebook paper in A4 and a pencil. Despite the fact that 95% important to record in Notes, 5% still fall on the paper.
After all, at the time of thinking can not just something to write but also to draw. Sometimes it is useful to focus on something other than the laptop screen.
What is in your bag?
Everything you need fits in your pocket: a wallet, car keys, skip and a telephone. But there is a bag in which to work and a laptop with a couple of business cards goes to work.
If you go on a journey to this set adds a standard suitcase on wheels, passing-on luggage. In this case, I do not care whether the food home for the weekend to St. Petersburg or treat with his wife on vacation for two to three weeks - always take only hand luggage.
What's your daily routine?
The rise at 8:30, come to work somewhere in the 9: 30-10: 00. Back home, depending on the projects and situations. Sometimes at seven already rented shoes in the hallway, and sometimes I cross the threshold only at midnight.
No program for time management do not use - all have in mind. If there is a chance to forget something, I put a reminder in your phone, and it arrives either on iOS, or on desktop.
I go to bed usually not before an hour or two in the morning. The most productive time for me - the night and late evening. Often I want to go to twelve, but suddenly there is an interesting project idea, and quite forget about time.
How to pass the time in traffic jams?
Right now I write these lines, waiting for the next flight to the airport. :)
But usually forced wait while away watching an interesting editorial selections on the home or my tape DRIVE2.RU. They are followed Instagram, book, Facebook and news media tape.
What's your hobby?
My main passion in life - a family.
I am inspired by my wife and her confidence in the success. I dream of a cottage by the sea in Catalonia, where the whole family is together.
Next comes the work and complete a fairly simple list of my hobbies traveling. In any format - from trips to the suburbs of the capital by car to tours in Europe.
As a teenager I was jumping through the pipes to aggressive rollers involved in water polo, drove on the bike for 20-30 kilometers a day, and jump from a springboard on a snowboard.
When finished university, my main hobbies were races on the full off-road.
The car was an appropriate and experienced firsthand everything: Ten times flooded interior, double its launch in flight over the earth, and once accidentally burned.
Also, one time I rode a wakeboard.
What is your life motto?
The main thing to get involved, and then we shall understand.
It does not sound very nice, but it captures the essence - to go ahead and deal with emerging challenges, rather than waiting for success for a reason. So do their job and do not look at anyone. If you hear that someone you say that this is not possible, then you are on the right track.
