Sergey Shalaev - founder and CEO of Service Surfingbird fascinating talks about his three workplaces in the office environment, favorite programs, hardware and operational configuration dreams.
What do you do in your work?
I am the CEO Surfingbird.ru. This recommender plaftorma for photos, videos, articles, news and in general anything. I do almost everything from drawing prototypes and TK, finishing the repair of offices and various legal issues in the company.
Usually my working day starts at 8 - 8.30 am. I read yesterday's post and studying the project statistics. In fact, the morning to 10-11 - my only chance to find out in the mail and over the answer. In the process of reading the letters and the ATC razgrebaniya ***** I have breakfast, and an hour later I go for a run or workout.
At 12 I used to have in the office or in meetings. 20.00 After I go back to work focused on something specific, such as TK or prototypes. At 23.00 I check how worked his shift and moderators if all ok with the project. At midnight my time finally comes to an end.
Workplace
Usually in my office three. The first - actually my desk. I'm not one of those maniacs perfectionists who have everything on the table so sterile that you can carry out the operation.
My second workplace - this office kitchen. Sometimes I sit there in the morning. Firstly, because there is a coffee machine. Second, the kitchen is located next to the entrance, and I ask each employee's all I need right in the morning. And, thirdly, there's just so cozy.
Three jobs - a roof, but due to weather conditions to work on it, I can only in the warmer months. Especially where good summer evenings.
working iron
I'm using the Lenovo x220. Before, I was very fond of IBM laptops. If they have not yet sold their division to the Chinese, and laptops are black, matte and slightly rough. Now they are also black, dull and rough, but we know that the earlier and the girls were prettier, sweeter and sugar, and of all.
I drew in the earlier prototypes gomockingbird.comUntil the team abandoned the project and has not ceased to develop it (I was very upset, loved it). Who is doing all in Axure.
There was a time when I was very actively used Evernote, but it vain. Now I use almost exclusively Google Docs. I tried many times to ask yourself the question of why I switched to Evernote to Google Docs. Perhaps because it discovered Trello, Which can immediately something for themselves flag to start work on this and monitor the status. For Google Docs documents to me personally simply more convenient. From instant messengers - Skype only.
As tracker tasks we use Redmine.
Paper
Paper is, and I hate that shit with document. Google is going to fly to Mars, the Japanese invented whores robots, but I still put some fucking stamps and signatures on paper. At the same time, working on the computer the last 5 years, I almost forgot to write the words, and when I have to write something by hand, it looks awful.
configuration dreams
I hope to live up to the moment when all the software will flow to the web, and desktop applications will no longer be. And I dream that there will be projections, both in science fiction films. Then I do not have to connect a second monitor. But I can, for example, evenly smear on your workplace windows with instant messengers, email, prototypes, etc., and the power of thought to switch on them as on tabam. It would be great, yes. Now all this replaces the laptop, phone and a second monitor.
