Tatiana Shirokova
Business Development Director metapoiskovika flights, hotels and rental cars Dohop. She began her career in the Russian office of British Airways. She worked in the airline Thai Airways and British Midland International; head of the Russian office of Discover the World Marketing. The last three years living and working in Iceland.
What do you do in your work?
In a small company like ours, to do something highly specialized almost impossible. Most of the crew - engineers, so I have to do different things. Sometimes such, the existence of which previously had no idea.
But the main my responsibilities - it is developing and increasing the profitability of our B2C-line. This includes communication with current partners (airlines, consolidators, etc.), attracting new, as well as search and content integration products for Dohop.
What is your occupation?
By profession I am a strategist. Both degrees (Bachelor's and Master's) got to the Institute of Business and Business Administration at RANHiGS. Choice of high school parents were engaged in, for which I am very grateful to them, as she would not have chosen better.
I can not say that often use the knowledge gained at the institute, even though education was with more emphasis on practice. But the skills and way of thinking which has developed over the years of training, help me a lot in their professional activities.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Strengths of accurately relates the ability to adapt to new circumstances and situations, as well as the desire to try themselves in new areas.
For example, two years ago I did not have nothing to do with the world of technology. She lived in Moscow and led the Russian branch of the American company, representing the interests of international airlines and hotels in Russia.
In 2013, I moved to Iceland. Initially engaged in consulting in the tourism business. Not yet received an offer to join the team Dohop one day. I be aware that this is more about technology than about traveling, so hesitated in making a decision. When I joined the company, I was the only girl among the ten programmers.
By his weaknesses can be attributed the fact that I almost impossible to motivate to do what I do not see the point. Here it includes natural laziness and the power saving mode. I love my comfort zone, but I work hard to often go beyond it.
How to live and work in Iceland?
To be honest, plans to move to Iceland, I never was. If the thought of moving, in countries with warm and mild climate.
I knew nothing about Iceland. Only that they have there is the singer Bjork. Then, when stuck for a week in London, as the air service has been suspended due to the eruption of the volcano Eyjafjallajökull, and learned more about it.
In February 2011, traveled to Reykjavik to the conference one of our clients, and caught in a storm (the roads were closed, flights canceled). Then I thought, "Why do people here still live? That they have volcanoes erupt, the Atlantic storm coming. Why not move anywhere in the normal place? ". But a few years later she moved here, because married Icelander.
The first thing that catches your eye - a total peace of mind of people. They are not in a hurry, but very punctual.
If we compare with Russia, the stress level here at zero.
Even in rush hour grace on the road: all go ryadochkom, no one climbs out of turn to the Congress, and so on.
Also, I was surprised by the level of taxes. After 13% of the income to pay almost 50%, especially from their hard-earned - this is very important. But we must pay tribute - wages there is also decent.
The market is oversaturated with qualified professionals, and many Icelanders even leave in search of work in other Scandinavian countries. There are nuances with the bureaucracy, but in general everything is more or less clear and without a hint of bribery.
The atmosphere in the office, at least for us, quite relaxed, but overall performance is reflected only in a positive way. For example, during lunch time, two or three times a week, our developers go play football or climbing wall. About computer games and even tell it is not necessary - it goes without saying.
In our office we have a place to sleep (some sofas), two showers, a kitchen with a fridge full of food. If desired, you can even spend the night here.
At noon, in Iceland it is time for lunch. For me, at first it was early, but when you work from eight in the morning, at 12:00 dinner with great appetite. Food delivered to our office. As a rule, it is fish or chicken with vegetables or rice and salad. On Fridays we have burgers (I order sushi).
Corporate events, so to speak, usually held outdoors. We go camping for two days in the mountains or to the glacier and spend the night in sleeping bags in wooden houses (shelters). unforgettable emotions!
How does your workplace?
It depends on where I am. If the office (and we have a pretty free schedule of visits), I have a table in the open space. Close five more people, including our CEO.
On the office desktop is constantly worth only flower - other things appear at the time of my presence. Part of my job - signing contracts with partners. But not on the table paper bales, because 99% of our electronic document.
Often my work area is a sofa in the office.
When working from home, my workspace looks like.
Three or four months a year I spend outside of Iceland, since my family lives in different parts of the world. When traveling, I continue to work. The main thing - is to stay in touch. So my workplace where my MacBook Air and the iPhone 6.
By the way, it's time to think about sevens. Yes, I am a fan of Apple since 2008. You can write indignant comments.

Most of the programs and applications all use the following.
- «Google Drive" - all working papers.
- Gmail - corporate email, but I use Outlook for Mac, it is more convenient to receive mail from multiple accounts.
- Slack - there all internal communication of the company.
- Atlassian JIRA - setting technical tasks and monitor their execution.
- Todoist - my task manager.
- WhatsApp, Skype - calls and correspondence.
- Spotify - for music at home and at work.
- Facebook - to stay informed about news of friends and post news.
- Instagram - # lyubovmoya! Actively use this social network, since I have more than 10 thousands of photos on iPhone. Basically publish Iceland pictures and photos from travels.
- VSCOcam, Snapseed, Splice, Drop'n'Roll and iMovie - to work with photos and videos.
- LinkedIn - to find and communicate with partners. An excellent source of information.
- Dohop - for booking of tickets, hotels and rental cars while traveling. If you take a taxi, through Uber (Europe and America), in Moscow, convenient "Yandex. Taxi".
Is there a place in your paper work?
Less and less. There is a notebook that came with me from Russia, but I do not use them much.
At the meetings, calls and take notes on the MacBook and quickly send follow up.
What is in your bag?
I Crossbody bags fan. He passed to them after moving from Moscow and change activity. To fit everything you need:
- cardholders (Cash use in Iceland);
- sunglasses (in summer it is clear why, in the winter rescue while driving, when the sun is very low);
- keys to the apartment and the car;
- smart phone, headphones and charging.
The passport is not necessary here, but I still wore a year after moving it along by inertia.
MacBook in a bag in his hands.
If flying on business, I try to limit carry-on baggage. To this end, I have a Samsonite on four wheels. Also take a Longchamp bag, since its spaciousness are the envy of a suitcase. Always take a iPad (where my book) and soundproof headphones Bose.
How do you organize your time?
Calls and meetings in zanoshu «Google Calendar." It is synchronized with the phone, so I always know what, where and when.
In Todoist compose the list of tasks for the day and the week. From there, I come to the post office notification. If you do not have time to do something very urgent, I stand tomorrow.
Previously we used to work Trello. In my view, it is perfectly suited for conducting non-technical tasks. But our programmers was not very convenient to work with this tool, so we had to give up in favor of JIRA.
What's your daily routine?
In Moscow, my working day began no earlier than ten or eleven in the morning and ended at eight or nine o'clock in the evening. This was associated with congestion and with the fact that I worked with colleagues from different time zones.
Now, as a rule, work between 8:30 and 16:00. In the morning time to communicate with partners from Russia and Europe, and after lunch - with America.
Very Icelandic begin work at 7: 30-8: 30 and go around 15: 00-16: 30. Time after work spent on hobbies and family. Plus the standard working week in Iceland 40 and 37.5 hours. All very respectful of your personal time.
How to pass the time in traffic jams?
There is no such thing. :)
Of course, if you ask the Icelander, he will indignantly telling how his way to work may take up to half an hour, and sometimes endless 45 minutes! But after Moscow's funny.
I'm going to work for five to eight minutes, taking into account the four traffic lights along the way. Sometimes happy to be at a traffic light post it fotochku in Instagram, but not enough time.
What's your hobby?
I love to take pictures on the iPhone. First pictures of the family, to show how to live, and now I can not stop. I can not say that I'm good at, but I do not much bother.
For many years thinking about photography courses, but all hands do not reach. Even five years ago I bought a SLR camera - one of the most ridiculous investment.
The second hobby was formed more out of necessity - is the study of the Icelandic language. To live and work here I do not need, but it is necessary to obtain citizenship. Complex language - learning is endless.
Third hobbies (only in summer) - a hiking and golf. And then, and another very popular in Iceland.
I also like to travel, but it's not even a hobby, but a part of life.

books
As a rule, all the books that I read, are divided into two categories: either they are real stories of companies, or biographies of people. In both cases, I'm interested in the situation faced by the characters, and how they went out of them.
From what has been read recently or are currently reading:
- «How Google"Eric Schmidt and others.
- «Elon Musk. Tesla, SpaceX and the road to the future"Ashlee Vance.
- «Richard Branson. false greatness"Tom Bower.
- «Magic cleaning. Japanese art of restoring order at home and in life"Mari Kondo.
- «Hiltons. Past and present famous American dynasty"Randy Taraborelli.
TV series
Unfortunately, they still have not much time, but "House of Cards" and "Silicon Valley" look.
What is your life motto?
My credo has become clear wording only after moving to Iceland.
We must not only not afraid of change, but often initiate their own.
So many changes are taking place for the better, even if sometimes at first did not seem to.
Well, and the consequent - always move forward, do not stop there.
