Today, the organization of their working space to share with us Taras Mischenko. Taras - Web journalist, editor of one of the most popular Ukrainian of IT-resources ITC.UA. His readers, he talks about the news in the field of information technology, on the services and applications and tells us why after all MacBook and the good tablet as a primary computer.
What do you do in your work?
I am a journalist, I work as an editor Ukrainian site about information technologies - ITC.UA.
Besides writing a variety of reviews, mostly smartphones, tablets, laptops sometimes, my main job is to create a news feed site. I am engaged in the selection of news, their writing, editing posts by other authors, and, in fact, the publication.
How does your workplace?
Our entire team of 8 people sitting in the same room. My workplace consists of a conventional table, office chair and monitor. Not to say that on the table perfect order, but much clutter it I do not like it.
No special wiring is no organization on the desktop, as their number is reduced to a minimum. Usually it is charging for notebook, cable to connect your laptop to a monitor and a micro USB charger of Android-smartphone, just in case :)
What hardware are using?
"Iron" - is the largest and most favorite part of my job, so I very often work for different devices. The basic machine is working, Jr. MacBook Pro 13 "2011 model year in the configuration: Intel Core i5 2,4 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics and 384MB HDD 500 GB. I bought this model at the beginning of this year, replacing it the same "Proshka", but in 2009. Opting for the MacBook Pro was made for two reasons: first - I'm used to this notebook, and the second - at the time of purchase, he had almost no competitors in terms of price / quality. In general, in my opinion, this is an excellent, unpretentious "typewriter". To work more and I do not.
On the desktop I have is a 20-inch Dell 2007FPb monitor with IPS-matrix. Despite his age, it works fine with no problems connected to my MacBook Pro.
On the laptop I use the mouse Apple Magic Mouse, I would hardly be able to recommend it for a purchase, but himself to her for three years, very used, although rarely used. Touchpad laptops Apple done very well, so that the urgent need for a mouse is no longer on its own.
As I wrote in the paper, I use completely different techniques, for example, that's how my workplace looked a few days ago.
I worked for a tablet Samsung Series 7 Slate PC running Windows 8 that is connected to the home a docking station, monitor, keyboard and Microsoft Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 5000 and mouse Logitech Anywhere MX. The very idea of such an embodiment of a personal computer came very to my liking, so I am looking forward to the emergence of new devices with Windows 8.
As a basic smartphone I use the iPhone 4s, but apart from him, very often use the Android-smartphone, which manufacturers provide to the test. Opting for the iPhone was made for Apple's ecosystem, which I, at this point, to some extent tied. All the matter in the software, and I as the owner of a MacBook Pro and iPad logical thing was to buy it iPhone. However, I will not say that the machine I was completely satisfied, after all, has a diagonal of 3.5 inches is not enough and want more.
This year, I am also a long time enjoyed a Galaxy Nexus, first with Android 4.0, then to 4.1. This is by far one of my favorite smartphones on the market.
Now I have to test is Samsung Galaxy SIII, too, to a certain extent, an outstanding device. Therefore, despite the fact that I do "ayfonovod" to devices on Android I'm very positive attitude, and it is possible that in the future will have a choice in favor of devaysa on Google's OSes.
What software use?
The laptop I installed OS OS X Mountain LionI bought the next day after the release. So far, I like it much more OS X Lion, which I have had a number of problems, including the performance.
In software terms - I am constantly changing program. To make it clear what I mean, I admit that I have tried different e-mail clients for OS X, such as Sparrow, Postbox, Thunderbird, Outlook for Mac, MailplaneAs well as the standard Mail, and no program is completely satisfied me, so I periodically use one or the other. The same is true with browsers, but most use Chrome or Safari. To write texts I alternate Microsoft Word from package Office 2011, WriteRoom, Pages or iA Writer. For communication in Google Talk - or "Messages" of Mountain Lion, or Trillian. Standard client SkypeUnfortunately, nothing so far can not be replaced. To create notes I had used Evernote and SpringpadBut with the advent of OS X a separate program "Notes", I found that it is quite possible to use, at least to me and synchronization functionality is enough.
In spite of the volatility of a particular type of software, there are applications that I would not trade the. This image editor Pixelmator, Twitter-client Tweetbot, and Reeder for reading RSS-feeds.
Regarding the use of email. E-mails to me are one of the main tools of work, and this rigor to the mail client I show is not just. My main mailbox is on Gmail, and even in 2012, unfortunately, not all programs are able to properly work with him. In this situation, for someone it is the output of the web interface, but I never learned how to effectively work with him, and he was always lost in the myriad browser bookmarks. New emails I checked every 10 minutes, on a laptop and on the phone. If you do a background check more often mail from the messaging turns to instant messaging that is not always good. My will be, I would even check mail once an hour.
For instant messaging, I often use a Skype, at a certain stage of development of this service, it was that it is practically at all, and who do not have - they make it easy to agree. Although lately I notice that a lot of operational issues get solved it via Facebook, rather than through the mail or Skype. Apparently, the last two methods of communication still seen as more formal, and people are not always willing to share with them some interesting information.
Is there a place in your paper work?
No, digital storage devices completely replaced it.
Is there a dream configuration?
Replace your MacBook Pro I see a similar model, but more subtle, light and with a Retina-screen TV. The rest, as I wrote, I like the idea of using the tablet as a primary computer. For example, to work on it can wirelessly connect to a monitor, keyboard and mouse, and his house could also be connected to a TV or a built-in multi-room apartments displays. Steve Jobs is not wasted talking about an era of post-PC, although up to this point may take another 10 years.
