At the Apple brand is one important feature - all of the company's products is fine, but only by working in conjunction with other products of the apple ecosystem, it is able to open fully. It motivates us to purchase new devices, to get the experience of using a single, and what is really there, the moral satisfaction. However, strange as it may sound, there are times when you absolutely can quietly "change" favorite brands by buying a monitor, mouse, or any accessories and stay with the win. Do not believe me? Well, I'll try to convince you.
mice
Magic Mouse is very cool mouse with support for multi-touch gestures, its surface smooth and great design it is admired by many. Nevertheless, this is my least favorite Apple product and I still prefer the mouse-party manufacturers that offer greater functionality.
Many of them have a lot of extra buttons, the ability to adjust the sensitivity and the destination programmable macros - all this allows you to get the most out.
One of the reasons why I prefer to use a third-party mouse, are games. I agree with that anyone who has ever played on my Mac into something harder Angry Birds. Magic Mouse gaming experience is quite sparse and the gameplay becomes a torment due to the fact that most game developers are counting on greater segment of the PC-audience, which use a mouse with a scroll wheel, separate buttons, macros, and additional buttons that make managing much simpler.
While the Magic Mouse is the perfect integration with the system, convenience and ease of interaction in conventional and professional applications, the game is a different story. Of course, such an argument of can be considered extreme, but there are other benefits in mice stroronnih manufacturers - you will have a large variety of sizes and shapes that will allow everyone to choose a comfortable mouse for his hand.
Keyboards
I have a wireless Apple Wireless Keyboard, which I use a Mac Pro, but I do not like. When I'm working for my MacBook Pro Retina at the table, then I connect it to the keyboard Matias Mini Tactile ProI love for its mechanical design.
Apple keyboard is good and quiet, but Matias Mini Tactile Pro has more clearly defined feedback and I like that during printing the keys you need to exert a little more effort. I have been using computers since the late '70s, and in those days, almost all were mechanical keyboard, so I'm a little old-fashioned in this respect.
But even if Matias keyboard do not like you for some reason or other, it is not too difficult to find a suitable keyboard Mac-format. In OS X perfectly supports any keyboard layouts, including and PC. If your keyboard is not automatically detected, the system will ask you to press a couple of keys to identify the type of keyboard, then you can immediately start using.
displays
Like all other Apple products, Thunderbolt Display is very good. The only bad moment - this is the price tag. US $ 999 is slightly higher than the budget users, which they allocate for the purchase of an external display. For this reason, the last two monitor I bought in one of the online stores, they were ViewSonic at a great price, which I am very happy.
Of course, in the purchase of the display there is a drawback - your workplace will not look so cool and eye contact will throw a violation of "harmony". Thunderbolt Display is ideal for other Apple products, while the black display frame ViewSonic will distract you a little bit. Although when I immerse myself in work, I stop to notice it, and it does not prevent me.
Furthermore, additional investment will be required you to connect an external display to your Mac. If the Thunderbolt Display is already equipped with a DisplayPort connector or Thunderbolt to connect the side of the display manufacturers you have to spend to DVI adapter (or, God forbid, VGA), the price of which varies from 20-30 dollars. But if you compare all the costs, including the price of external displays from third-party manufacturers with the price of Thunderbolt Display - it is in any case will be much higher.
Cables and memory
Apple inflating the prices of their branded Lightning cable and 30-pin. You can easily find a more affordable alternative to the many manufacturers that are sold almost everywhere. However, you should avoid too cheap, often of dubious quality accessories. Better to spend a little more money and buy something that has an inscription on the packaging "Made for iPhone / iPad / iPod touch" - which means that they are approved by Apple and what about their quality can not worry.
In the case of the Mac, a similar situation around the memory modules. Under normal MacBook Pro, 27-inch iMac, Mac mini, and older models, you can replace the memory of themselves by buying a third-party modules and significantly save on it. Now, when buying a MacBook Pro Retina and MacBook Air you have no choice, since the memory chips soldered directly onto the motherboard and replace them it is impossible, but before buying a new Mac, I always chose the model with the minimum amount and then "upgrade" their own saving this heap money.
What do you think, dear readers about this? Do you use any third-party peripherals, and if so, why? Tell us about your experience in the comments!
