Even if you do not use Apple Mail, and never in my life did not run it, all kinds of links mail: to from Safari or any other browser will be opened in a standard e-mail client. It does not matter whether Mail is currently running or not. Everyone who uses Gmail or Web versions of other postal services, such behavior annoying. But everything is quite simple to fix.
In Mail preferences, you can set the default mail client in case you are using a third party application. This can be used to prohibit the opening of the email-links. The bottom line is to indicate not designed to work with e-mail application. Then the link simply will not open.
Do this:
- Open the Mail Setup through the menu bar or using keyboard shortcuts ⌘ +,
- Go to the tab "General" and select as the default Finder email-application (located in the folder
/System/Library/CoreServices/
). - Done.
If your browser is to click on the email-link, nothing happens. Rather, the system in the background to switch to the Finder, but you'll still be in the browser window. To continue, you will need to make only a click anywhere on the page.
If instead of the Finder choose Chrome or another browser that you use, when a user clicks on the link you will be on the same page, and will not happen anything.
