9 of the rules for meetings - from business to personal
Work And Study / / December 25, 2019
There is such a company - Urban Airship. It is located in Portland, and I, like the vast majority of readers' Layfhakera "never heard of it. Guys doing geo-location and mobile apps, but I (and you) their activities are not interesting as the rules of corporate and personal meetings that they have developed and implemented in their practice. In the office of the above-mentioned companies they are even printed and hung on the wall. Rules only 9, here they are:
Rule number 0: "Do we need to do to meet?" Have you noticed that 80% of the questions of our time can be solved by phone, skype, using a variety of instant messengers and e-mail? And if you notice, then why continue to practice the meeting in which more time is spent on the road and talk than concrete solutions?
Rule number 1: "Plan the beginning of the meeting, rather than when it must end". Sometimes the decision-making occurs in 5 minutes, sometimes meeting will last two hours.
Rule number 2: "Always come on time!"
Rule number 3: "No multi-tasking." Forget about gadgets, mobiles and iPads at the time of the meeting.
Rule number 4: "If the meeting to anything concrete does not lead, leave". Do not waste time on something that does not add up.
Rule number 5: "Meetings are not required for the exchange of information". For this purpose, already invented e-mail, written agreements and other remote communication methods.
Rule number 6: "Who really has to come to this meeting?" Especially true for business negotiations and meetings. All managers to take with you, or will only last one - the one who is responsible for the product, etc.
Rule number 7: "In the actions and concrete steps settle only after the meeting". If no agreement is reached, it is necessary to act on the results of the meeting, and not to be bound by the promise at the beginning.
Rule number 8: "Do not feel uncomfortable if you had to point to the rest of the observance of the rules of one of the above mentioned". It will only be correct if you achieve compliance with these rules.
