If you had asked me at 22 years of career plans, I would have looked at you with blank eyes, and then to change the subject. And it does not mean that I do not think about work.

In addition, in 22 years, I sat on his first job at a startup, where everything was happening too fast. There was no time to sit and reflect on the skills and experience that may be necessary for you. Who cares about the talk about a career when you're going to change the world?
But if you do not think about a career, you start up things take their course. Maybe it will lead you to what you've always wanted. Or maybe not. So why rely on the case, if you can manage the process?

With a career is the same. If you are primarily trying to pump their skills and bring more benefit your company or society as a whole, you will automatically climb up the career ladder, and your profits grow.
What to do with adverse circumstances

So do not ask yourself, "What do I have to have raised" Ask the question differently: "What skills do I need to develop in order to bring more benefit of the company or society?"
Even if you never raise employees, business collapses, and all the external indicators of success - the post and wages - are poor, your skills are not going anywhere.
No matter where you go, your skills and experience will go along with you. That's why you do not need to worry if your career does not go uphill fast. Perhaps a reduction in wages and demotion will open you the way to new knowledge and capabilities?
Your boss - the coach, not a judge
Quite a long time, I thought his boss a man who appreciates my work like a teacher in a school or university. It determines if I do a good job and a commendable.
My principle of dialogue with the leadership at that time it was possible to define in one sentence: "Do not act like an idiot." I tried to look better and more confident than it actually is.

Do not hide your feelings from him: what inspires you, what motivates that prevents work. The more honest you are with your supervisor, the better he will be able to help you. Remember: he is interested in your success almost more than you.
Create your perfect image and trust in him
In order to achieve something in life, you need to believe that it will happen. The phrase sounds corny, but it's not just words. one study It confirmed that, if a person clearly sees himself in the future with certain skills, it automatically starts to do anything to get them.
Many years ago, when I was faced with difficulties at work, was scared and did not know what to do, I wrote a list of things I should be able to the future. This list begins with "one day I will."
And the list is still relevant. Gradually, I supplement it with new desires and expunged what made. Skills, which then seemed to me an unattainable dream, is now perceived as something normal, like I always knew how. And it reminds me that I'm sure will achieve all that is recorded.
I look at this list several times a year. It simultaneously calms and motivates me.

It does not matter who helps you, ignores you or even interferes with your career, as well as your life in your hands.
If you have to force yourself to go to work, ask yourself why. If you can not think of any difficult moments in the past six months, maybe you no longer evolve. If you are constantly looking at other people and waiting for what you praise, you may not want to take responsibility. If the work does not fit with your long-term prospects, maybe it's time to exchange her?
