Stop constantly staring at the screens!
Work And Study Productivity / / December 23, 2019
Devices that simplify our lives and offer virtually unlimited access to information, it's great! But... but the same device, which, in theory, should facilitate us life and give more free time, on the contrary, take away it from us and we find ourselves in a relationship. We are day and all night looking at the screen - mobile phones, computers, tablets, and televisions. And it happens almost everywhere. We sit buried in the phone in a cafe with friends, just as we are sitting, buried in the phone, on the deck of walking yacht somewhere in the Mediterranean - as long as it caught the network.
As a result, we are missing a lot of that, not virtual, real life, you can taste and touch. And the main problem is that when we are aware of it, it is very often too late.
Limitation "screen time", be it a computer or TV, according to Leo Babauta is of paramount importance. So we not only increase their productivity, but also take on life in the truest sense of the word, almost all.
Productivity
As limiting "screen time" effect on productivity? Very simple. Let's just say, we often spend time behind screens, not because we need to work, but because we are so accustomed. We are always something to watch, read, or are looking for. Moreover, for some it has grown not just a habit, and addiction, from which it is very difficult to get rid of. We are constantly on the screen - something read or write, or laykaem, or make an assessment, or argue, or just browse tape on hand and already she reaches for the phone or tablet to check again... something - the reason is no longer important.
And it takes a lot of really productive time. Those who have at least once tried to limit their access to social networks, will understand me perfectly. And for those who have not tried it - highly recommend!
But as many lives and a network connected by a single network, Babauta offers a compromise - set a limit of 4-5 hours of "screen time" per day, which is divided into breaks of 30 minutes. If you count the total time, just get the standard working day - 10 hours (up to Tim Ferris us all very far). And the standard daily limit of a standard employee IT.
What gives? Because now you have a limit, you start to think about the rational use of this time. As a result, your work day is becoming more structured and primarily performed really important tasks, and news reading or viewing pictures overshadowed.
In addition, we can in stop and think during these breaks on what you have already done and what still needs to be completed. I'm not talking about just relaxing, reading interesting books, which are not related to work, and easy walking walks. Most importantly - set a timer and shut off the computer or laptop is clearly a signal and not be tempted to finish this task here for another 5 minutes. To develop a habit, and you will be surprised how many will begin to keep up with those time intervals for which the earlier barely managed to finish a simple task.
A life
I will not for a long time to paint it, what advantages gives us that option. We wrote about it repeatedly and in different ways. I want to say is that at the time of writing this post, I'm in quite a remote urban settlements in the Crimea, together with child and within two weeks had already surrounded by people for whom the computer and the mobile devices are not the meaning of life. For them it is only a necessary tool. In this case, it is educated, intelligent and interesting people who have time to read interesting books, watching the right movies, listen to good music and to notice the pleasant things around.
And I thought about whose life is more fulfilling?! After 24 hours stay in touch day and the network does not mean a full life. Chatik in the FB and the number of likes to Instagram, of course, will raise your spirits. But believe me, it does not go to any comparison with the present communication, reading books and sunsets, the type of which you forget where your phone is. And so, with all this, I still have time to work, because I have a limit "screen time," which established itself quite naturally (and especially local calls).
After all, when we finally tear off your eyes from the screen, we can see a lot... For example the fact that a number of us - friends and we were really well all together with no screens. And then the phone is simply a means of capturing this beautiful moment.
None of the participants in a group photo did not find any devaysa... except, of course, the photographer;)
