How to achieve the desired, not to perform the feat

I have a friend Barry Nathan (Nathan Barry), who He wrote three books for 9 months. How he managed to do it? The plan was simple. He wrote 1000 words per day (2 or 3 pages of text) and made it 253 days in a row.
Now compare this strategy and the classic image of the writer, which is locked in four walls for a few weeks and wrote like crazy to finish the book soon. Maniac in the four walls of rushes at maximum speed: it may be 20 or even 30 pages a day. Just a few weeks in a devastating pace, and the end comes a book or author.
Maximum speed Nathan has never reached the level of a crazy writer. However, within a year or two of his average speed was much higher.
This strategy goes far beyond writing. For example, anyone can feel the rush of inspiration, go to the gym and motivate yourself in a heavy, but one single training session. This is the maximum speed. But what if you find your average speed for all the days in the last month? How many days have you dedicated training? How about three months? Or a year? What was your average speed?
You can understand that missed classes when the week was at the hospital a couple of times after a hard day's work and another two weeks, when we were traveling. Suddenly you realize that your maximum speed can be very high here and now, but your average speed is much lower than you expected.
This principle is true for your work habits, and eating habits, and habits relationsAnd for others, almost all areas of your life.
The main secret of average speed
The secret is this: an average speed does not take too long to achieve incredible results.
We often spend time and energy into thinking that you need to put a monumental effort to achieve something significant. We convince ourselves that we need to be more active in order to get what you want. We believe that we must work harder than the rest.
But when we look at the people who actually succeedWe will see something different. Nathan wrote 1000 words every day. And after 9 months, three books were finished. Under no circumstances did not work more than others. It is to write 2-3 pages per day, there is nothing supernatural. Nathan was just more consistent than others, and as a result, its average speed over the 253 days was much higher than that of most people.
There is a logical question: how to increase your average speed? Let's talk about it.
How to increase your average speed
Gradually changing their habitual behavior and the transition to a new level, you will be able to increase and average speed.
And here are some examples.
- If you now eat healthy food three times a week, you can increase your average speed, and at least once a day there's something useful.
- If you train twice a month, you can try to deal with once a week.
- If you do all the time lost at work and communicate with old friends once every three months, you can try to call up with them once a month.
You get the idea? Getting used to constantly increase the level of their goals and their average speed, you thereby increase and returns.
I thought about how I use this technique. The last eight months, I publish a new article on every Monday and Thursday, without fail. And now I have to decide how to take this habit to a new level.
For example, I can use the strategy of Nathan and write 1000 words every day. Perhaps this will allow me to continue to issue two articles a week, but also free up time to work on other useful things. For example, on his own book.
Where to go
When talking about our habits, we all have some sort of average speed. And to be honest, most of it is much lower than we would have liked.
The truth is that anyone can get motivation charge and strive to one day, but only a few are able to make an effort constantly, week after week.
Most importantly - do not blame and do not judge yourself, if your average speed is not that what you would like.
It is important to understand the present state of things, to keep under control what is happening, and to accept the fact that even a small, but consistent change their habits will lead to an increase in the average speed.
Health, work, life in general does not require you to great effort to achieve incredible results, just be consistent. Do not be afraid to move on to the next level.
