Sometimes achieve productivity rather difficult, even if you're working every day at the same place. What if you change to work each week? Everyday? Every couple of hours? Therefore, for digital nomads and freelancers question of efficiency control is especially important.
I was lucky to find a remote work full-time. Over the six months of my workplace is sometimes changed every couple of days or even a couple of hours! In the process of moving from place to place, I made a mental note of how best to adapt to each new location and workspace. I also asked for advice to other digital nomads.
Now I want to share all of these tips to increase productivity with you. Hopefully you can learn from them some ideas and use them next time before you will face the problem of productivity for remote sessions.
1. Every evening, make a plan for the next day
Just a day after I began to make schedule and to-do list for tomorrow, I was amazed at the results! Use for this purpose a conventional or electronic calendar. Now, when I get up, I do not need to jump out of bed to see if I have time at some meeting and if I have time for is to drink a cup of tea. I already know what kind of things I have to do, and can allocate time according to the plan.
Compilation of the list of cases for tomorrow - is a technique for increasing the productivity, which is regularly used by most successful people. Since it is consonant with the famous saying of Mark Twain:
If in the morning to eat a frog, the remainder of the day will be wonderful because of the feeling that the worst is over for today.
If you are inspired by the idea of drawing up the list of cases for tomorrow, follow this plan:
1. When the day comes to an end, scribble a list of tasks that you need to decide on the next day.
2. The next morning the check list.
3. End the day with drafting a new to-do list for tomorrow.
2. Use the rule of one tab
I recently set a goal to leave the browser open only one tab and only work with it. It was really difficult, but in the end I began to keep up much more because all my attention was focused only on one task.
If you want to try this technique, you can independently monitor how many tabs you open, or install a special extension for your browser, for example, One Tab. This extension does not allow you to open more than one tab.

3. Plan the case of time frames
Plan all the right calls in the morning or evening, to select the appropriate workspace. For intensive targeted work I prefer the cafe, and for phone calls - collective offices with permanent access to Wi-Fi.
This is to some extent similar to the technique of quick-change workspaces, called Workstation Popcorn.
Here is a brief description of it.
First, a list of daily chores. It must be sufficiently informed and concrete. These cases are divided into three groups, on the implementation of which should leave a roughly equal amount of time. For each group selected a separate workstation: various cafes and other suitable working space. Arriving at each new paragraph, you know in advance on what you have to work that allows you to concentrate on specific tasks and immediately begin to implement them. Upon completion of a certain job groups you move to a new location and so on.
4. Take the time to work and to explore the city
One of the most notable advantages of remote work is the ability to set your own schedule and work at a time when you are most productive. For me, such a distribution of time proved to be very useful, especially with regard to research new places.
The most effective strategy for me - to allocate in the afternoon two-hour window for a walk around the city and to work a little longer in the evening.
5. To find a good place to work, use social networks
When I go to another city and start looking for a comfortable place to work with sockets, Wi-Fi, and good coffee pleasant atmosphere, usually I do tweet or write local friends with a request to advise me something suitable.
If I have not yet whom to contact, service Workfrom come to my aid. It allows you to find cafes, coffee shops, bars, party offices and other suitable employment.
6. Do not overload the list
Do not include in the list more than three main objectives. To improve productivity, there should be an optimum number.
7. Use the technique GTD (Getting Things Done)
In his book, "As a result in order. The Art of stress-free productivity " (Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity) David Allen suggests a technique in which the task lists transferred to external media, which frees our brain from having to remember and hold in memory the upcoming Affairs. This allows you to concentrate on the tasks themselves and increase productivity.
GTD method can be used, making to-do lists in Google Calendar, Trello, Toggl, Evernote. No matter which device you're accessing the Internet and where you are, because at any moment you can take advantage of these services.
8. Take the time to other activities
Take care that you leave enough time to communicate with loved ones and to take care of their spiritual and physical health. This will give you an extra boost of energy and improve your overall productivity.
9. Report on the done work
With the help of the service Personal Hackathon you are together with your friends or colleagues can organize a "productivity club." Service allows you to set a certain period of time to maximize productivity and to monitor the progress of each other. 12 hours of intensive work in the regime of strict accountability, you have time to do much more than usual.
10. Try to use the Pomodoro technique
Pomodoro techniqueSpecifying a certain relationship between the intervals of active work and breaks in between, it has become extremely popular. And it is really very effective.
11. Challenge yourself
For example, to perform three tasks you can give yourself an hour. To further motivate yourself, make a list of the most important issues and determine what you will need to make them before the end of the working day.
12. Turn down the volume on all devices
Set your phone to silent mode and turn off all notifications. This will help you focus on the work and have time to do what you have planned.
13. Move more in the morning
Before you start in the morning to the cases, try to set aside time to move to exercise. This helps to organize his thoughts and improves concentration, which will affect how you feel and how much will be productive throughout the remainder of the day.
14. Use wisely the time you spend on the road
The waiting time at the airport, flight time, or moving from one place to another can be used to work. You can perform any job and carve yourself plenty of time to walk around the city. For example, monotonous work can be done while you are on the plane. It will also help to cope with the fear of flying, because you will be focused only on the tasks performed. In addition, your productivity will increase, since the poor Wi-Fi or no amount of distraction is sharply reduced.
15. Allow time for traffic
Make a hard plan for the day or for a week. If you tend to work in excess of the norm, be sure to include in the plan a little evening stroll.
16. Keep a diary
After you wake up and before you go to bed, take notes in a specially designed psychologists diary Five Minute Journal. If you can set aside time to work with it, you will feel much more happy and thankful for what you have and what is happening to you. In addition, it is a good way to add a little bit of order in the life of the digital nomad.
17. Try to work removing the housing through Airbnb
Book the house from local hosts using service Airbnb, or at least stay at the hotel, where there is a kitchen. This will allow you to work on something for several hours, without being distracted by the search for food. The hotel has no kitchen, you will not be able to intercept anything in the process of intensive work. First complete the project you are working on, and then set out to explore a new city. In addition, if you will sometimes prepare food at home, you can save a little money.
18. Make changes to the workspace
From time to time make changes to that immediately surrounds you in your workplace. This increases the efficiency of your creative.
19. Make sure that you have enough charge
For a digital nomad it is very important to his laptop charging enough. Be careful with the fact that you had an opportunity at least once a day to recharge the device on which you are working.
20. Designate a place to work in advance
Before you travel, check in My Maps cafes and other potential places to work in different areas. If you find yourself in a certain area, you'll know at least one place where you can work on.
21. From time to time standing work
Some cafes are located near the window so high tables that can work for them as a sitting on a high bar stool and standing. It's great when you can alternate between sedentary work with standing.
22. Choose a well-lit place
Try to find a cafe or snack with good lighting and enough space to walk around and stretch their legs. Work in a well lit room helps to overcome drowsiness, increase attentiveness and creativity. In addition, a very useful warm-up time by time. It improves blood circulation and increases efficiency. So look for a place where you will have the opportunity.
