Competitors iPad: how they will develop and what awaits them in the future

In a changing world, all winning technologies usually fleeting. Asus once shone with its Eee PC netbooks, BlackBerry belonged palm with BBM, and Nokia was unshakable mobile empire. But nothing lasts forever, and a long rest on its laurels, no one can. In addition to the iPad. Becoming the best tablet back in 2010, it remains so to this day. Other manufacturers are trying to change it in full, but instead of competitive devices, we see only the exhibition miserable clones. What with them and how they are going to change?
The most striking example of copying iPad - a Galaxy Tab S2. Samsung used the same size, the same materials of the body and even the aspect ratio. This is not a competition. To do this, there is another word - capitulation.
When Apple introduced the iPad, a number of aspects relating to the tablets, are very vague. To fill the gap between computers and smart phones, it was necessary to determine the operating system. While HP and Microsoft have chosen presumably more functional desktop version, Apple has decided to rework the iPhone OS. As a result, iPad won the battle.
Before the advent of iPad, we really do not know what should look like a tablet.
With the size of the device it was also unclear: some prototypes reach 15 inches and more like laptops without keyboards than tablets, but Apple went its own way and has chosen as a standard 10 inches. And finally, one very important detail - the aspect ratio. Apple stopped at "square" 4: 3, although all the other producers tended to be 16: 9 and 16:10 more profitable for watching movies. Now, after 5 years, we can say with certainty that the iPad has won in this battle.
Samsung Moving to the format 4: 3 - is a simple reaction, based on experience. People prefer plates with a square display, regardless of the brand. In his 3 Surface and Surface Pro Microsoft uses an aspect ratio of 3: 2, which is located between the iPad format and 16: 9. Same story with Nexus 9, and even with a huge 12-inch HP Slate Pro - both use a 4: 3 ratio. Coincidence? I do not think.
Inherent problem of large-format plates is that they are too narrow (forgive the pun). Undoubtedly, watching movies using the entire screen space without annoying black bars - it's great. But on your tablet you're not just watching a movie, right? Too narrow screen makes surfing websites damn uncomfortable. In the vertical mode, the screen width is not enough, and in the horizontal contrary, it is too large. The same problem occurs when reading books or comics, as well as while viewing photos. All this is best done on the "square" screen with an aspect ratio of 4: 3 like the iPad. Coming up with something else just does not make sense, so other manufacturers can not do anything but to once again copy the iPad.
The original iPad was a sample of the future device that has become our present. I must say that Apple has managed to predict it accurately. With the iPhone the company has always been in the role of catch-up: a smartphone after all received a large display and an aspect ratio of 16: 9, which is now a universal standard. With the iPad, everything was different: Apple originally laid down in the basic principles of his (mobile software, the size and format screen), which remained unchanged - the development of the tablet is simply an improvement of the original formula.
Whenever the iPad appeared more or less successful competitor, he always had a screen with an aspect ratio of 4: 3. The ill-fated TouchPad from HP failed due to crude software, and not because of the size and format of the screen, which are valued highly. Successful examples of weight: it is the aforementioned Nexus 9, and the Nokia N1, and Jolla Tablet, not to mention outright shameless clones like Xiaomi Mi Pad from.
Now, when Samsung abandoned all attempts to somehow be different from the iPad, it seems that all the plates in the world are either iPad, or copies thereof. Something like Motorola shown in advertising XoomWhich aired during the Super Bowl in 2011. Than the iPad, but it has not done to prevent the terrible scenario of the video, the Motorola had to offer something more interesting. How did so far and no one else.
iPad continues to overcome at least in part because other manufacturers have focused on the fact that they were different from the device iPad. Instead of just being the best, they were trying to win iPad, playing by his rules. The new Galaxy Tab, of course, far from the original, but they now have almost everything that makes the iPad attractive, including its size and the screen size, as well as additional functions such as a scanner fingerprints.
Apple and Samsung are now going on the same path of development, and are approximately equal, but do not write off other manufacturers. Amazon does not hurry to transfer its line of Kindle Fire tablets in the screen format 4: 3, while Microsoft continues experimenting hybrid Surface tablet, keyboard and stylus which is used as the basic unit input.
This desire to stand aside, of course, will expand the range of tablets for users, but only up to certain limits. And the reason is the users themselves - they have already made their choice in favor of a more square and friendly iPad.
