Why Apple raised the price of their devices in Russia

Apple today officially increased prices for their products in Russia by about 30%. For us, it was an unpleasant surprise, especially given the approaching festive Christmas season. We figured out why it happened, and gathered the views of participants of "apple" of the community about the sharp rise in the price of Apple technology.

What happened?

November 26 Apple raised prices for its products in Russia by about 30%. At the same time, the Russian online store Apple Store was closed for 2 days. This was preceded by numerous rumors about the increase in prices for "apple" products. However, the growth was even higher than expected.

Why did this happen?

The whole thing - in the fall of the ruble against the dollar and euro. For clarity, let us take the price chart for iPhone June 16 GB in Russia in terms of the euro, since it is based on the exchange rate of the ruble against the currency of this Apple expects the price of products on the market.

As you can see, the price in euro on the iPhone 6 in Russia over the past 2 months has been steadily falling. This was due to the depreciation of the ruble. If the end of September, the euro was worth 48 rubles, in November, the European currency was worth 55-58 rubles already.

The difference in price at the beginning was about 35 euros, but the end of November reached 140 euros. Therefore, the increase in prices in rubles - Apple is a logical step that leveled the difference between the Russian and European price.

The fall of the ruble is associated with the low price of oil and the impact of Western sanctions on the Russian economy. Similarly, the ruble had behaved in relation to the dollar.

Where it leads?

1. Demand for the iPhone in Russia due to the increased prices will fall;
2. If a high price will be kept for a long time, Apple's share in the Russian market, for obvious reasons, will decrease;
3. Second Wind becomes "gray" import "apple" technology from the United States and Asian countries;
4. Those who bought the equipment to increase the price, had a chance to fully recover their money for purchasing, selling gadget in the secondary market.

What do we think about this?

I tried to buy the iPhone 6, the last couple of weeks of official representatives, and could not do it - all models except the useless 16-gigabyte, were sold out. If our city delivered the Apple Online Store, to buy there, of course. Now white sale inevitably prosyadut. I think the gray suppliers like mad Macarena - their business profitable again. And I'm going to buy the next iPhone is not exactly in Russia.

I was lucky, I bought an iPhone 6 in the first day of sales in Russia, when the price was 10 thousand lower than now. Those who wants to sell the new iPhone in the secondary market, there was a great chance to completely fight off the money for the purchase.

The new prices, of course, are not encouraging. Let's hope for the strengthening of the ruble and the decrease in prices. And now buy "apple" technique I would not recommend it in Russia.

The increase in prices was predictable, and it has long been expected. In fact, we even have to thank Apple for what she patiently waited right up to this time. Buy less, it is unlikely. Someone may have to be purchased on the secondary market, and someone to earn a little more or save more. Other manufacturers likewise rose / raise their price tags and fundamentally nothing will change on the market.

Higher prices - a logical step from the company. It is unclear why the majority of so much surprised by this price increase. On the contrary, it was necessary to rejoice, even for such a long period, we have pleased even the old price tag. No need to be a "rocket scientist" to understand that sooner or later it will happen. Accordingly, people understood - bought and who is not - was complaining about Apple's, Cook, Jobs' absence and iOS 8 at the same time.

Does that scare off buyers? Yes and no. Those who know exactly what to pay - will continue to buy, well, doubted - is likely to move to another platform. Apple in Russia again became a company for only the rich people (often in the opinion of those who do not buy their products), but it is not. We live in Europe (at a price that's for sure), so all the price tags we are equal to the Euro, with an increase rate - increasing the price for the consumer. And Apple is clearly not here to blame.

This was to be expected. The question was just in time. It is a pity that they have not raised rates from 1 December, as is persistently repeated rumors. In any case, they are so spoiled the plans of many people. I was just horrified new prices for Macs, increased by 20 000 - is too much. So I will refrain from making any purchases.

I think it will scare away the few, and less technology Apple will not be - in the secondary market will take. I my 5S and iPad 4 for the year still precisely enough - work perfectly, so the change does not reflect. The computer from Apple is not necessary, and with Windows, and everything's okay. But I hope that by the time of the selection of new gadgets prices still reconsider and the dollar falls.

What to do?

We do not advise you to buy a new Apple gadgets in Russia. Or wait until the price reduction, or buy it in other countries (USA, Hong Kong, Thailand). Perhaps, in some stores you can still find gadgets with the "apple" on the body at the same price, but the probability is very low.
