MacRumors columnist Eric Slivka (Eric Slivka) reported a new electronic format Knin, which prepares the publishing house Penguin Books for Apple iPad. It should be e-books with embedded interactive elements, video and audio clips and even integrated chat.
The plans for the establishment of a Penguin e-books in a format different from .epub, which is standard for the iBookstore. That is, the new content will be launched soon in the form of applications than the actual e-books. Although at the moment it is unclear how this idea should be combined with Apple's plans for the establishment of a centralized iBookstore.
CEO of Penguin Meykison John (John Makinson) said that cooperation with Apple and other firms that publish e-books, more profitable for Penguin Books, than cooperation with print agencies. Indeed, the share of profits from the sale of e-books, which should receive Apple's, is only 30% compared to 50% that require printing agency.
