The owner of a wide range of technology Apple name Lorena Brihtera probably does not say anything. Meanwhile, it is one of the brightest developers. He was part of the team that created the first iPhone. Then, seeing the potential of the new platform, Brihter resigned from Apple's, becoming an independent developer. He created Tweetie - the most convenient client for Twitter. The program was so comfortable that ultimately "Twitter" and bought it, to make a formal application for OS X and iOS. Brihter also the author of the art "Pull to refresh» (pull to refresh), without the implementation of which is now a rare application costs.
Almost a year ago Brihter left Twitter. And many people were interested in his next move. The new project was an interesting word game - Letterpress.
Letterpress - a shareware multiplayer game. It is as simple as all genius. There is a field size of 5 × 5, where randomly scattered letters of the Latin alphabet. The player's task is to ensure that the amount of the letters of the word. There are a number of limitations:
- Words must consist of at least two letters.
- only be used once the word (logical)
- Words should not be prefixed with previously used words.
Every time you use the letter to create words, you "conquer" tiles, on which it is located. This tile is painted in your color, and you get a well-deserved point. Longer the word - more points earned.
There Letterpress and a small room for tactics and strategy. Tiles with letters can "steal." The fact that the opponent has won the tile does not mean that it is lost forever. You can later use another tile to formulate their words. To protect the letter from "theft", you have to conquer all the surrounding tiles.
The game ends at the moment when all the tiles with the letters painted in any color. The winner is the player who has more points.
Despite the apparent simplicity, Letterpress - a very beautiful game. It looks cool (some, however, perceive the effect of the style Metro UI), and truly captivates. For me personally, this is the first game in the last year, from which I can not break away, to which return again and again.
Letterpress upsetting that that the game has no time limit "to think." Your opponent can create a new word and minute, hour, and day. Lost dynamics, feeling idle appears. Given that the Letterpress is possible to conduct multiple parties, this restriction seems deliberate, because the free version you can only participate in two games at once, and in the full version costing 99 cents this restriction not.
By persevering recommendations "drop everything and run pumping Letterpress» stops me one thing: the game requires a knowledge of the English language. In childhood we were taught different languages - one German, one French. But if you have even a small vocabulary of English, be sure to try to play in Letterpress. And do not worry, your opponents are likely to be Europeans, that is not the fact that they know English better! :-)
