From June 15, Apple iCloud tightens authorization rules for third-party applications. Layfhaker says that you need to know about this and what measures should be taken.
Such a decision the company has taken to improve the security of user data, which is especially important in view of the recent increase in attacks and break-ins. Now for application access to contacts, calendars, and mail from iCloud account, we introduce the main account password, incurring a potential risk.
Under the new rules for this purpose it will use a unique password that you need to generate an application in the Apple ID settings. This method makes it possible to identify the user, but it eliminates the access of third parties to the account password, and guarantees a high level of security.
Such passwords exist for a long time, but are used only in certain applications and only if enabled Two-Factor authentication. From June 15, it will be a prerequisite for third-party applications that use the contacts, calendars, and mail iCloud directly, rather than through the standard API. Without the application of unique passwords simply will not work. It will look something like this:
How to add a password program
- Turn on two-factor authentication, if you have not already.
- go to the page account Apple ID.
- In the "Security" and click on "Create a password" and enter a shortcut, a prompt for the password.
- Copy the password that is generated automatically iCloud.
- Insert the supplied password instead of the password iCloud.
At the same time, you can store up to 25 application-specific passwords. To create a new need to remove existing or cancel all passwords. This can be done in the "Security" by clicking on "Edit" and selecting "View history".
After resetting the password, use its applications lose access to the data until it can generate new passwords. The same thing happens when you reset the master password iCloud.
