A Life / / December 19, 2019
We all sooner or later think about moving to another city or even country. The reasons for this can be many: a desire to change the situation, financial problems, insecurity or a dream to see the world.
One of the largest and best-known consulting company PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) has compiled a list of 30 cities around the world that are most attractive for relocation. PwC assessed them according to criteria such as infrastructure development, health, safety, economic situation and the ease of doing business. We chose the 11 cities from the top of the list and identified the characteristics of each of them.
Berlin
Advantages: public transport, security.
Everyone who ever visited Berlin, knows that he has an extensive metro network, which is characterized by its purity and convenience. Berlin is also safe for tourists. Many corporations such as Google, SoundCloud, etc.., Opened more offices in Berlin. Therefore, the city is often referred to as the European Silicon Valley.
In last year's list PwC Berlin occupied the 16th place in the same year he moved to 12th.
Chicago
Advantages: quality of life and air.
Chicago - this is one of the largest US cities. It has a population of 3 million people. In Chicago PwC listed among the top ten thanks to the ease of doing business, quality of life and air.
However, all is not well. Transport system and infrastructure need serious revision. Chicago government has already allocated several billion to repair the city water supply, school and municipal institutions. But these global projects require time.
Sydney
Advantages: climate, nature.
Benefits Sydney obvious. We've all heard about Australia, its wonderful nature, beaches and fauna. By PwC Sydney won the 1st place in quality of life and livability. As for other indicators, such as the financial situation, infrastructure and culture, Sydney is also held on high, and has virtually no weaknesses.
The only drawback - it is house prices. Like the rest of Australia, they are very large. For example, One-room apartment in Sydney will cost about $ 2,000 per month.
Daily expenses in this city is 16% higher than the world average. This puts Sydney at 12th place in the list of most expensive cities in the world.
Hong Kong
Advantages: quality of life, transportation, low business taxes.
Despite the incredible population density, Hong Kong ranked 5th in the world for life expectancy. Hong Kong transport system is not satisfactory - about 90% of the daily movements are made by public transport.
Hong Kong takes the 1st place the level of economic freedom thanks to lower taxes on businesses and well-built financial markets. PwC has put Hong Kong on the 2nd place for ease of doing business.
Hong Kong drawbacks: pollution, air quality.
Stockholm
Benefits: To promote the IT-sphere, purity.
Stockholm - one of the fastest growing cities in Europe. Thanks to the policy of promoting the IT-industry, in Stockholm there were companies such as Spotify and DICE Games (released a Battlefield, Mirrors Edge, and other well-known computer and console games).
Ulla Hamilton, Vice Mayor of Stockholm on innovation, in an interview with PwC said that the city is trying every way to help IT-companies as it is for the future of this industry.
Stockholm is very clean and green city. Developed transport system, clean water and a special heating system to help maintain order.
The only drawback of Stockholm are immigrants who are becoming more and more lately.
Paris
Advantages: education, transport system.
Paris is famous for its libraries, universities, and high level of education, taking 1st place in the ranking of the most educated cities.
Paris is also famous for its transportation system. 14 branches of the metro, regional trains, and separate lanes for buses - all this makes the public transportation of Paris on the head is higher than in other cities.
Of the minuses can distinguish expensive housing, traffic jams and the unemployment rate, which is slightly higher than normal.
San Francisco
Advantages: IT-sphere, innovation.
One-third of all investments that come to the United States, receives Silicon Valley, which is located in San Francisco. This part of the city, which is characterized by a high concentration of IT-corporations. Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Adobe - it is only a small part of the company, whose offices are located here.
Despite the fact that, by PwC San Francisco is not the most expensive city, it becomes more and more expensive every year. This causes many to move to the suburbs.
Toronto
Benefits: standard of living, health, infrastructure, transport, and security.
Despite the scandal kokainozavisimym mayor, which occurred in 2012, Toronto is one of the best cities to live in. He is in the top three for quality of life, security, and infrastructure, which makes it a desirable city for relocation.
In the public transport rankings Toronto takes 1st place in the world. A Rating congestion - 13th (the higher the position, the worse).
Singapore
Advantages: ease of doing business, public transportation.
Singapore has an incredible transport system, which is based on high-speed trains. In its report, PwC notes that every year Singapore is getting better life, gradually correcting all of his shortcomings.
New York
Benefits: stable economy, ease of doing business, transport and infrastructure.
In the PwC list of New York is the second city to welcome the move. Strong position of New York provided the ease of doing business, developed transport system and a great infrastructure of the city.
Compared with other cities, New York is relatively cheap to stay. but the cost of rental housing is very high and is second only to the two cities in the world.
London
Advantages: IT, ease of doing business, and transport.
In the ranking of PwC London won the 1st place, which makes it the most desirable city for relocation. The government strongly promotes the development of business and IT-industry. A recent project of the Ministry of Communications has provided Internet access almost all of the London school.
The transport system is not satisfactory. The famous double-decker buses run according to the schedule listed at the stops. A high-speed train can take you to Paris for a few hours.
London - one of the richest cities in the world. This is both good and bad. For example, the number of billionaires in London than in any other city, which of course is good, but only for them.
Many residents complain that the city is too expensive even for the working class. It is also worth noting the large number of immigrants, which requires the employer less money, thus taking away jobs from natives.
I would be interested to know what took place in the ranking of Moscow, Kiev and other major cities of the former Soviet Union. Of course, in the first thirty of them have nothing to do. Unfortunately, there is no other PwC research on this topic.
But according to a study Legatum Institute, Russia and Ukraine occupy 61th and 64th places respectively in the rating of the standard of living, behind countries such as Sri Lanka, Mexico, Kuwait and Jamaica. With detailed research and rating available here. It is worth noting that the Legatum Institue - is an independent and non-profit organization, so the reason not to believe them, I do not see.
I already want to move. And you?
