What awaits us in the future? Opinions of people who create it now!
A Life / / December 19, 2019
I had heard cries that our society - a society of consumers, and all focused on what the big companies - is the creation of a new iPhone or PlayStation. But there are people who right now, while you read this article, change the world. And that's what they think about what awaits us in the future.
Editors TED Blog asked the same question six people: "What do you think, what awaits us in the future?". Each of those who have asked this question - a visionary, a man who does something that many people consider silly, absurd or fantastic. That's who entered the top six of these people:
- Neil Gaiman - science fiction writer, author of "Stardust," "American Gods," "Coraline".
- Juan Enrikez - CEO Synthetic GenomicsEngaged synthetic creation of microorganisms for use as fuel.
- Sara Seager - professor of physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
- Jason Silva - mediapersona and futurist.
- Tom Vudzhek - creator of Autodesk.
- Nalo Hopkinson - fiction writer.
Each of them answered the question within the framework of TED presentation.
Neil Gaiman
"Any thoughts about our future are wrong because the thought - it is a product of human consciousness. A man - being wrong ", - said Gaiman. In the video, he reveals his idea, and it turns out that it sounds not so challenging.
Juan Enrikez
"We need to learn to rebuild their bodies - says Juan Enrikez. - If you believe in human rights and humanity, we must understand that we each have a responsibility to remove a person in the usual sense of this planet. "
Sara Seager
Seeger believes that the only way to conquer other planets - learn how to copy themselves. Her suggestion? Forget about putting astronauts into hibernation or on the generation of space travelers. It should concentrate on copying and reproduction of the human DNA.
Jason Silva
"Technology and people finally become one. Now the tools are becoming faster, better and cheaper in the future the same will happen to the person ", - said Silva.
Tom Vudzhek
"Technology allows us to improve the world around us. With their help we rethink absolutely everything, down to the usual design chairs ", - says Vudzhek.
nalo Hopkinson
"In the future, our world should be better. And those who live on the margins of society and chaos, need it more than others. " Hopkinson tries to reflect this idea in his books.
