Previously, the concept of the cult linked to religions and political parties. Later - with musical groups and subcultures. Over the past 5 years, the IT industry, mass communication and online projects have turned the consciousness of society - and a host of cults associated with people and things. Operating systems, mobile phones, the individual top managers, form factors of devices and brands manufacturers became an occasion for online and offline dispute. People spend a huge amount of time trying to prove which side the grass is greener and the "present." Let's take a moment to stop and think Why not make the object of worship of people or objects.
Things break down and become obsolete. ABOUT unnecessary and obsolete things We have already talked about. Your computer or smartphone - it's just a tool. In a year or two - and technology will make another round. You will want to change something. It is unclear why argue, better than Android iOS, that Google is able, and Apple - no, and why the PC operating system from Microsoft is awful, and Mac / Linux - is the ideal solution. For you, the situation may look for another person - just different. Change platform, brand or configuration, "iron" / favorite clothing brand - not a cause for "Cult." If your favorite laptop breaks - that is no reason for the "holy war" with itself and with others. If you have changed the ecosystem of devices, or a favorite brand of running shoes - that's no reason to fall into fanaticism in relation to these subjects.
People change; and they can be quite different in real life. It would seem that, if things are not necessary to erect an absolute, then such a measure "absolute" may become people. But no, in fact, even those whom you admire about them by reading books, watching with their participation or read interviews with them - they are all just living people with their "cockroaches," shortcomings. Perhaps in life they have a terrible temper, full of bad habits and strange dispositions. Top-manager who seems to you an ideal leader in life can be a very controversial personality (did not want to again for the umpteenth time to remember Steve JobsBut it will probably have to again). Journalistic "shark pen" can be very arrogant and unpleasant type. A blogger with a cool and unusual writing style feed in reality can be very shy and unsociable. Most are from people that you like; but do not dwell on the idealized image, which was formed in your head.
Attachment and fanaticism are preventing you from enjoying the fullness of life. "Holy Wars" fans of different operating systems, devices and platforms, sports clubs and brands I still do not understand. Rigid and absolute faith in the fact that "we are right and they - no," makes your life following a specific marketing dogma. As a result - you artificially narrows the scope and refuse to try something new.
New ideas can not learn, constantly stamping in one spot. Sooner or later, even the most perfect source of inspiration dries up, and the belief in the "right" begins to crumble. Indulge in the new ideas, new people, new ways of solving their problems. We are surrounded by a lot of features, interesting people and useful tools - no need to abandon them.
