Steven Ritz and landscaping of the South Bronx
A Life / / December 19, 2019
A teacher from the South Bronx, a troubled district of New York, Steven Ritz, along with his disciples plants orchards and vegetable gardens, growing food, and creates jobs.
When I was in high school, some of our teachers still attempted to keep us busy digging in the beds. But then planting flower beds of marigolds business usually do not go. I assume that they probably do not move the good intention, and our school leadership. But for that they can say thank you, because we liked it.
In the garden of my son's teachers were more resourceful and year groups, children with great pleasure to dig in the beds, and then harvest. A winter grown green onion and garlic in a group. So my child know where are the vegetables on our dining room table, and this digging in the earth gives him more pleasure.
So does an ordinary teacher from the South Bronx, is not the most affluent areas of New York, only on a much larger scale. Thus it not only allows children to find out what is healthy food and where it comes from, but also creates jobs. It helps children of families who live in poverty, and children with disabilities to feel on a par with everyone else. And they see how the outside world under the influence of what they do with their hands.
