In everyday life we often use items that need to be properly disposed of and take in special reception centers. The preferred solution would be to use containers for the collection of hazardous waste, which should be at each site with the trash cans, but the situation is far from ideal. Therefore, sorting and delivery of such items to the reception point remains on the conscience of each of the discharge.
ListRPN Order from 22.05.2017 № 242 (ed. from 11.02.2018) "On approval of the Federal Waste Classification Directory" (registered in the Ministry of Justice of Russia 6/8/2017 number 47008) hazardous waste is continuously updated, and is now in it more than 500 substances. The extent of the potential harm of such waste depends on its explosible, toxicity, flammability, radioactivity and other indicators.
In Moscow there are almost fifteen thousand points of reception of hazardous wasteBut they are very few. Most people are not willing to carry the waste to the other end of town. Also, due to the absence of information that citizens simply do not know where to donate, for example, light bulbs fluorescent light, and some even do not know their danger.
Tell us about the dangerous everyday objects and what to do with them.
1. batteries
The battery is harmless, while her body intact. Getting on landfill, batteries burn, rust and release toxic substances and heavy metals. They are deposited in the soil, the water, and then move on, not only in vegetables and fruits, but even the meat of domestic animals.
Collect waste, together with colleagues easier than doing it alone. Keep a special box office for collection and storage of used batteries. At the end of the year collected the goods can be taken at the point of reception.
2. Fluorescent lamps
So called Fluorescent LightsOr fluorescent contain mercury - fatally dangerous heavy metal, affects the nervous system, kidney, liver, gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract. In one compact lamp - 3-6 mg of mercury, and linear ( "long") - up to 50 mg.
Dispose of such elements in the trash impossible. If the bulb is broken (as in a conventional container for solid waste it is almost inevitable), mercury first penetrates into the ground and then the ground water.
Pass the lamp can be in the same place where the battery. The idea of a collective gathering in the office or porch is also nice.
3. Car tires
Tires do not decompose and therefore may harm the ecology of the centuries. When burned, they become a source of toxic substances that are dangerous to the environment and human health. There is only one way of recycling used tires: processing into rubber crumb. From it are made soft coverings for sports and children's playgrounds.
Learn about opportunities to pass the bus at the station, where you serve car. You may even pay compensation for the raw material. Also often take tires for recycling in the tire shop.
4. mercury thermometers
pouring out broken thermometer, Mercury is separated into small balls and evaporated. Prolonged vapor penetration of the substance into the body, even in small concentrations, it can cause death.
If you broke a thermometer, we must act as follows:
- Derive from the room of children and pets.
- If the outside temperature is not above 18 degrees, open the windows and leave the door closed to avoid drafts. If it's too warm, open the windows should not be - toxic substances at high temperatures will evaporate faster.
- At the entrance to the room, lay down a soft cloth soaked in a solution of soda or potassium permanganate. This must be done so as not to spread the legs of mercury throughout the apartment. Wear gloves, shoe covers, and a gauze bandage.
- collect mercury balls with the help of a dense cloth soaked in oil. When droplets of oily substance to cleave napkin, put it into a glass jar along with fragments of the thermometer. Container tightly close the plastic lid. Also to collect balls of mercury, you can use a blower with a thick needle or syringe Scotch.
- After you gather all the pieces and balls, be sure to wash the floor, using disinfectants. It is prohibited to use a broom or vacuum cleaner.
- Place the spill of hazardous substances treated with a solution of potassium permanganate or chlorine. It will oxidize mercury and lead it in a non-volatile state.
To pass the old thermometer or a jar of pick up the pieces and balls of mercury, please contact the reception points in the SES or MOE stations.
5. Batteries
Every year millions of discarded batteries in Russia. They contain lead, sulfuric acid and other hazardous components. Collect such waste must be separated from other waste in a designated area. It must necessarily be equipped with a tray to prevent spillage of the electrolyte.
Car batteries take on the processing plant. To do this, turn in an old appliance receiving the item or the shop where you buy a new one. Often while vendors offer a discount on the purchase of a new battery.
In addition, you can earn a little money. Type in a search engine "to pass the old battery", "buy the batteries." These ads are very common. Clarify what will be assessed, weight or capacity, and choose a lucrative option for themselves.
Greenpeace has developed an interactive mapOn which you can see the location of points of reception of various waste in their town. In addition, hazardous waste taking large trading network: Media Markt, «Eldorado», the IKEA, "VkusVill", "M.Video", "Auchan", "Leroy Merlin", "Lenta".
