How not to lose the humanity in the era of robotics
A Life / / December 19, 2019
In an effort to optimize every action and collect more data, we forget that information is not knowledge, but knowledge does not equal wisdom. We should not be afraid of technology, and the fact that we lose our humanity.
Read about the past
Artistic and historical literature is transferred to another time and place, help to understand the validity of previous generations. Those who are afraid of change in the world are encouraged to see that everything is repeated. And those who are committed to these changes, having learned the lessons from the past. Thanks to the literature we can immerse themselves in the era of Austin or Dostoevsky, Dickens and Joyce and learn something from them.
Do something with your own hands
Use not only the head but also my hands. Take a notebook and a pencil and go to the park without your phone, try to draw what you see around you. Enroll in courses of carpentry or pottery, to give a new form of natural materials and to experience the value of creating something from start to finish.
Learn to listen
We confuse tweets with communication. We run through the eyes of the news to be inserted into the conversation: "Yes, I read about it." But "to read about something" - it's not the same thing as "to read something."
Try, for example, to join the book club. There you will not only get to know people from completely different from your experience, but will be forced to listen to the opinions of others. Try listen others and impose its views.
Talk to a stranger on the street
It helps to take a fresh look at yourself, to get rid of prejudices. We have a habit of judging people to express their assumptions about some. But we learn to be open to everything new, just when the realize that's not always true estimate of others.
Sometimes, to strike up a conversation, a fairly simple smile. The main thing - do not expect from such communication benefit.
To develop their humanity is now just as important as learning to program. You do not need some skills to exchange for other, much more useful to consider them in conjunction.
