Hi9 - is a kind of innovative product for the company Chuwi. This manufacturer before releasing tablets and laptops running Windows, or a dual-boot system - Windows and Android. Therefore, all devices were manufactured by Intel chips. And then suddenly the pure Android 7.0 Nougat and processor from MediaTek.
MT8173 chip was released back in 2015, but is still widely used in the production of entry-level tablet. This single-chip system, which includes a processor with a dual-core ARM Cortex-A72 and two core Cortex-A53, capable of operating at frequencies up to 1.9 GHz.
This chip uses a proprietary kernels CorePilot 2.0 control technology. It can involve, if necessary, not Only the processor core, but also the computing power of the graphics accelerator PowerVR GX6250, which gives additional growth performance.
4 GB RAM - the minimum acceptable value for devices that pretend to be the center of multimedia entertainment. Built-in memory is 64 GB, but it can be increased due to the additional memory card.
On paper, the specifications look decent - considering the price of the gadget, of course. And it looks like in practice, you will learn a little lower.
Packaging and appearance
The tablet comes in a simple box of yellow recycled cardboard. On top of it suffered a company logo, on the side - a sticker listing the main characteristics of the device. Supplied with charger, connecting cable, booklet with background information and a warranty card.
In the eye catches a characteristic feature of the gadget - pretty thin side frames. Not so subtle, of course, how to draw on Chuwi site, but narrower than in all previous devices from this manufacturer. It looks nice, but it requires getting used to, because sometimes you can accidentally click on the screen.
The tablet has a rounded edge, so handle it comfortably. Authorities at least control - only the power button and volume rocker on the right side. All connectors are at the top. This headphone jack, a slot for inserting a memory card and connector for charging and data transfer.
The back cover is made of plastic with a matte coating which hardly collects fingerprints. In the upper left corner of the eye is placed in the main camera, and in the diagonally opposite corner - the speaker grille, which Chuwi Hi9 only one.
Selection of materials does not cause any complaints. The tablet looks modestly, but neatly, as befits a device in this price category. But on the assembly have questions. The back cover Chuwi Hi9 publishes some extraneous squeaks and even seemed to flex when pressed. Sometimes it seems that it is not quite tightly fastened so that there are doubts in the durability of the device, especially if it gets into the hands of a hot-tempered gamers.
Display and Audio
In Chuwi Hi9 used qualitative 8.4-inch matrix with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels JDI production (Japan Display Inc). This company was founded in 2011, Sony, Hitachi and Toshiba specifically for the production of displays of small and medium sizes, so there is no doubt the quality of their products.
Visual inspection of the tablet only confirmed this statement. The picture looks juicy and contrast, viewing angles are close to the maximum. There is a small note to the color balance - in our opinion, the white color has a slight blue-green color, but it's a matter of taste.
level brightness adjustment can be considered adequate. The maximum value makes it comfortable to use the device, even with direct sunlight illumination. A minimum brightness does not cause irritation with prolonged reading in the dark. However, a special reading mode in the settings available.
But the sound Chuwi Hi9 frankly pleased. Although the device has only one loudspeaker, it sounds loud enough quality. From listening to the music, too, left a positive impression on headphones.
Performance
If you take a tablet for browsing the Internet and reading books starnitsu, this item is not for you any value. Another thing gamers. For them, every FPS on your account, so you have to understand the characteristics and test results.
In Antutu tablet scored 94,222 test points. More recently, however, this popular program has received a major update, so that was not entirely clear how the results relate to the new version with the old results. Therefore we suggest you pay attention to the testimony of other test programs - PCMark 8.0 and especially 3DMark, which measures the performance of the gaming device.
We further tested the behavior of the tablet in two popular games. When you start the World of Tanks Blitz on average Chuwi Hi9 setting it provides approximately 35-40 frames per second, while there is a significant heating of the rear cover. But in car racing Asphalt 8 device behavior we liked: tangible subsidence speed and heating the body has not been noticed.
Performance Chuwi Hi9 enough to perform most common tasks. The only problem that may face owners of this gadget - is launching modern video games.
autonomy
The tablet is set battery capacity 5000 mAh. But let's not forget the great screen resolution, which is known to be the largest consumer of energy.
To verify the lifetime of the battery of the tablet, we used the program GFX Bench Battery Test, which loads the device rendering of different 3D-scenes. It is this test is best suited to assess the autonomy of the gaming gadget.
Chuwi Hi9 showed not a good result, but we should not forget that in real life the autonomy of the device may differ slightly from the synthetic benchmarks. If you use the tablet for reading and surfing, it will last much longer.
results
Chuwi Hi9 positioned as a gaming device in promotional materials. However, in practice it proved to be true only in part. Not too urgent filling plate copes with only simple games, but in the clever 3D-projects will have to unscrew the graphics settings to a minimum and wear gloves to avoid burn your hands.
If you are looking for a quality gadget for surfing, reading, socializing, watching movies and other entertainment quiet, then this is exactly what you need. Quality screen will please the eye, the battery charge will last for many hours of reading, and the compact size of the device would allow its use even with one hand. If these advantages added more and more humane price, the tablet exactly catch on and get excellent sales.
At the time of writing the price is Chuwi Hi9 10 810 rubles.
The author expresses his gratitude to the company Chuwi for providing the test device.
