No excuses, "unsolvable problems do not exist" - an interview with a businessman Mikhail Teslyuk
Motivation Inspiration / / December 19, 2019
Michael Teslyuk - Moscow businessman, of which one could say "feet on the floor." But, in this case, this phrase may sound like misplaced pun.
Michael - a successful businessman, engaged in real estate development. Financially, and in all other areas, is independent. He has three children. He travels a lot.
But "to stand on their feet", in the literal sense of the word, does not allow the trauma received many years ago in an accident on the river Pripyat.
About Michael and how he has adapted to the new conditions, in this article.
New time - new life
- Hello, Michael!
- Hello, Anastasia!
- The first question is traditional: where do you come from?
- I was born and raised in Moscow, although the parents came to the capital of Belarus. With Moscow's connected to all the best for children and youth memories. Now I live too far away - in Moscow, on the bank of the Istra Reservoir.
- What do your parents do?
- They're engineers. Father - an inventor, studied forestry machinery. Mom - engineer the chemical industry.
- Parents like you to also become an engineer?
- They wanted me in the first place, received a higher education. So I enrolled in the Institute of Electronic Technology in Zelenograd. Although at the time I was living alone and had his own business.
- Business in 15-17 years?
- Yes. I soon separated from their parents. When I was 15, there was the collapse of the Soviet Union. It was very bright time - everything has evolved, I was born in another country.
Young people wanted to realize. I'm not an exception.
- Do you remember your first salary?
- The first salary was much earlier. :) However, the earnings is considered just me. Parents when they found out I was punished. The neighbors across the street were asked to climb up to them in the window and open the door, as the forgotten keys. I slazil. I was given the award in rubles and kopecks. Mother and his father did not like it.
As for the business itself, in 17 years we have developed with a partner, bought Bushnov equipment and opened a bakery, employing about 30 people. Father gave me to use Gazelle - it transported bread.
- And then what?
- Then there was a lot of commercial ventures. I cultivated mushrooms, cheese and cooked, and a smokehouse own was.
But, ultimately, all came to the conclusion that I am now engaged in development of real estate. Any object can be developed: depth, breadth apart. Therefore, I take the illiquid real estate (land abandoned, basements, attics, etc.), and reconstruct their lease or sell.
In addition, I have a holiday hotel houseboats along the Istra Lake.
- Business - it is always a struggle. Especially in the 1990s, when everyone wanted to grab a piece of cake. How did you manage to save his job?
- Of course, I was faced with trying to get into the business... But as a rule, they were very weak.
One hard enough "No" to people left and did not return.
- Businessman Roman Aranin, Who was also the hero category "No excuses," writes about you in his blog: "... even a broken neck, manages 100% control over their lives and the lives of their loved ones, without the position of discounts." How do you do it?
- Ways to something known. :) I make plans for the year, month and day. Moreover, archaic - in a paper diary. Then I try in any case not to deviate from the planned. As a rule, I achieve everything planned.
- You have an assistant? How do you feel about the delegation?
- I tried to hire managers. But practice shows that, no matter how charged, you still have to redo it. So now I try to manage all objects himself.
Life - the struggle
- You are injured at the age of 33 years - career, family, three children. Life is at its zenith. How did you not give up?
- Thoughts "life was over" did not exist. It was the idea - to adapt the environment for themselves.
Within six months after the injury I have installed manually on the machine equipment, has received new rights, they bought wheelchair, which I needed, and who were the best at that time.
Over time, he settled down and your home: dropped curbs near the entrance, designated parking lot, made a ramp, lifts installed at the entrance and at home.
It helped me to fully realize my plans.
- And none of them had collapsed? For example, "I like to jump with a parachute! All - no longer destiny. "
I did not refuse from any of their ideas. In contrast, the new plans.
After all, you can jump with a parachute, and in such a position. The only question is how to adapt the conditions: who should you insure what equipment you need, how to ensure a soft landing, and so on?
- State somehow help?
- Hardly ever. I checked out the hard way: to achieve something from the state impossible. Yes, many things seem to be made, but are made so that "No, thank you."
- You always say, "adaptation", "adapted". Why is it so important in your opinion?
- All medical institutions operating in Russia, imbued with the ideology of rehabilitation rather than adaptation. Man forced to reach out to the switch instead to move it to the level where it will be convenient for them to use.
People, having been traumatized for months treated in sanatoriums, develop physical fitness, etc. Despite the fact that this treatment is often all mythological. There are types of injuries, in which it is impossible to get to his feet.
But that's absorbed this ideology of rehabilitation, people continue to engage in live unfulfilled hopes and a lot of effort and time wasting. However, they put themselves at the head barriers: I do not start a business until you get up on your feet, I'm not the head of the family has not yet stand on my feet, I'm not going to learn... etc.
But if they were to direct the energy to environmental adaptation, the veins have a bright and interesting life now.
- You did not try to fight it?
- I Tried. Collected once the boys group, paying them a salary, we went to the hospitals and "reduce a brain" of those who have just faced with the trauma. Supplied them with the necessary literature, explained that there are no miracles, and charlatans happen. Helped to move with 5 floors on the 1st. Bought a stroller.
But this point techniques. It seems to me, we need a systematic approach. We even with Roma Araninym discussed the idea of creating the All-Russia Center, which would be taught wheelchairs (and not only) to live in a new environment. And it means - to equip your life, find work, study, travel, etc.
- I heard that you went with the family on the Paralympics in Sochi. Tell us firsthand how it went?
- It was great! Really I liked the atmosphere. People were happy and united. I have long had ever seen.
Imagine you go to competitions, sit on the bus, and there is no one sitting gloomily looking out the window. Unfamiliar people communicate, share experiences, tell us who was sick for whom, and how much they are going through. It's amazing when even the bus driver for some short travel time becomes your friend.
- In an interview with our special project Paralympic Oleg told BaluhtoThat in Vancouver were almost empty stands. And how attendance was the case in Sochi?
- We are almost all games of sledge hockey, ski and ski races for curling. Tribunes were not always complete. It's weird, because at the box office at the stadium said - "no tickets", and the Internet has been written the same thing.
- Sochi has really become barrier-free city, which now need to all be equal?
- I decided to check it out for yourself. I went to the old city, visit all its historic parts of a wheelchair.
I can say, Sochi barrier by 90%.
Almost everywhere you can drive, can not be said about the same Moscow. A simple example - the Red Square. It would seem that the main attraction of the country, and is not adapted for wheelchairs.
But the fact is that this remaining 10%?
This minor issues (step near the monument, the thresholds in doorways, etc.), which ultimately spoil everything.
This was offset by only the attitude of people. With a population of apparently we had a good educational work - they were all friendly and willing to help.
- Our athletes have won a lot of medals. They all were competitors on the tracks?
- Of course! All the guys fought to the death. We were on a ski competitions and saw the athletes fell. No one came out at the start, just to get off the roller coaster, all wanted to win, but there were a lot of falls. All were on the razor's edge.
- And do you exercise?
- Yes, but at the amateur level. From time to time I engaged in wheelchair rugby (played for Vladivostok, took third place in the Championship of Russia).
But more often (2 times per week) to play table tennis.
- What achievements in your sport?
- Health! :)
Best motivation - is the result of
- Michael, you have a son and two daughters. What you are trying to teach them?
The fact that there is no unsolvable problems. If you want something, you need to take and do. And all will turn out.
- What motivates you best?
- the results obtained. I always clearly understand that I will receive from the sale of varying ideas, and this awareness spurs me into action.
If the prospects seem very vague, I break the goal into several stages and consistently implements them, one after the other. At the same time we must not forget to enjoy any, even small results.
- Our project is called "No excuses." How do you see for yourself the phrase?
- If there is a goal, it can not be no excuses.
Here is an example. One day I met a man who was completely paralyzed. He had a choice: to put a goal or making excuses. He went to the first way - to organize the business, the people gathered and they hired a rat poison in their area. I met him a few years ago. He is still engaged in it.
And so starting from scratch can absolutely anyone.
- Wish anything Layfhakera readers.
Set goals. Break them into stages. Achieve them. Enjoy your achievements, puts them in the "piggy bank" and multiply.
- Michael, thank you for the interview!
- And thank you!
