REVIEW: "The illusion of" I ", or games are played with our brains," Bruce Hood
Books / / December 19, 2019
How the human brain works and, what is the source of thought, and that is the mind - clear the answers to these difficult questions are in one of the best books on neuroscience that I had read.
Hood Bruce (Bruce Hood)
Psychologist. Ph.D. Director of the Center of Bristol cognitive development. He teaches at Cambridge and Harvard. Winner of the Alfred P. Sloan Prize in the field of neuroscience, an award-winning Young Investigator Award in the category "The study of children." Led Christmas Lectures of the Royal Institution of Great Britain, and his TV series "Get to know your brain" looked more than four million people.
Bruce Hood hits the patient. With ruthless scientific impartiality, he says, and how the brain functions, where are the thoughts and that is the mind.
Hood is not unfounded - voiced and compares the point of view of co-workers and always argues his position. Many examples and experiments described in the book, dispel remnants of skepticism. And now, the idea that "I" - is just an illusion, does not seem so wild.
As the brain develops and the "I". When the brain is degraded, the same thing should happen to "me."
Bruce Hood
Theory Bruce Hood sobering and inspiring at the same time. It turns out it's not so scary. After studying the laws of the brain, you can make friends with him, get his life under control and to make their illusory "I" happy.
The book is easy to read, but not fast. Simple language presents a difficult thing, so some passages reread several times. I want to read a book with a pencil in his hand: underline, write, mark.
Who should definitely read this book
- Parents who have small children, as well as those who only plans to wind it. You learn a lot about babies cognitive processes, such as mirror neurons and their impact on behavior, and perhaps you will correct the process of education.
- Executives, hiring managers, and other professionals, who by occupation is necessary to well understand people.
- Psychology and neuroscience.
- Inquisitive natures, striving for self-knowledge and self development.
My personal assessment of the book Bruce Hood "The illusion of" I ", or games are played with us a brain" - 9 out of 10.
(Not 10, because ten flurry of emotions in me can only lead to an art book.)
