Books / / December 19, 2019
We are taught from childhood that dream - it is something unreal, mere child's play, pleasant, but an empty pastime. "I want to become a pilot / lifeguard / singer / astronaut" - each of us in childhood dream of something like that, but hardly anyone took seriously your dreams.
In his book, "Dreaming is not bad. How to get what you really want, "Barbara Sher and Annie Gottlieb dispels the myth that dream - it only vague desires, learn to turn them into goals and make concrete plans to achieve all of what you dream.
I am very distrustful attitude to books from the category of "How to become a millionaire in a fortnight," "How to achieve your goals in 1 month", "How to change your life tomorrow," and so on. D. But the book "Dreaming is not bad. How to get what you really want "was initially interested me because it did not promise fantastic results for a tiny period of time.
She just said: "Dreaming is not bad" - and it was this quiet, unobtrusive but effective call did the trick - I have decided to read this book.

Think about the genius that you were a child
Most of all I am grateful to the authors for what they have helped to recall their childhood dreams. I, like most people, treated them not serious, and the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I always answered in different ways. The kindergarten was praised for having said a few words without mistakes in English - and I am sure that I will be a translator. He coped with a role in the New Year performance - and here I am already dreaming of becoming an actress. In the second class he wrote his first poem - and I know that in me napping poet.
But then, as a child, I, like all children, did not know the main thing: all our dreams, our every desire, our every small victory - this is what tells us the way to what will make us happy.
In the book, a lot of practical exercises that will help you remember childhood dreams. You yourself can easily write something that seems to be forever forgotten: What do you love to do, that you have been wondering what you did not feel sorry for wasting your time.
As a child, each of us was a real genius: we know what we want. We were not yet adults, constrained by various circumstances (no money, no time, no opportunities, and so on. Etc.), and we are not afraid of possible failure, we are not assailed by doubts.
And then you remembered, dreamed about as a child. Now answer the question: Do you still want to do this? If your answer is "yes", then forget for a moment to continue, you will definitely add to your answer ( "this very hard, "" I'm not at that age, "" I never make up my mind as to radically change their lives "and so on. d.), and know what:
Barbara SherYou still can.
I do not care about your age, past and present circumstances: you can still do whatever you want, you want to have or be anything.
Game of the private detective
Who knows you better than yourself? Every day you see yourself in the mirror, you know exactly what you love and what you hate. But you'll be surprised when you realize that you know about yourself is not all.
In one of the case studies the authors suggest you to play a private detective: view own home as if you see it the first time and try to understand the situation of that kind of person here he lives. When you see the results, you will be surprised. After I examined the own home, I made the following observations:
Items that I was not surprised:
First. On the basis of what has been suggested: this man has more than three hundred of paper books, and on the table is an e-book, and if you look into it, you'll find more than a dozen works.
Why is it not open to me:I love to read since childhood, I have always known it.
Second. On the basis of what has been suggested: on the table, seven notebooks, in which randomly messed poems, fragments of thoughts, quotes from books, the lines of your favorite songs.
Why is it not open to me:I immensely enjoy writing by hand; even if going to publish the post to LiveJournal and Tumblr, it first appears in a notebook, and then moved to the online space.
Sixth. On the basis of what has been suggested: two players, a lot of headphones, carefully stored CDs.
Why is it not open to me: I listen to music all the time.
Items that surprised me:
Third. On the basis of what has been suggested:on the table sketch pad and markers. All notebooks with the letters side by side smileys, cats and some squiggles, the deeper meaning is understood only by their creator.
Why is this discovery for me:I do not know how to draw. As a child, I'm really out of this tormented and assignments Arts I carried the whole family. In my resume in bold red highlighted two phrases: "I can not draw. Well, that is not at all, in any way at all. "
And then I quite unexpectedly realize that always something to paint. Mental maps when I need to decompose a complex problem into its component parts. Emoticons, cats and other small animals, when I need a distraction. I even somewhere took the album, so even with felt-tip pens.
What I concluded from this:I always thought that I do not like and can not draw. However, after examining its "risovatelny front", I realized that, of course, a decent artist out of me never will, but kalyakanie zakoryuchek and funny little animals helps me calm down and digress.
Fourth. On the basis of what has been suggested:many albums, two cameras, which stands proudly on the top shelf, a pile of folders on a laptop called "Print photos".
Why is this discovery for me:Well, yes, I have a camera, and I can push a button and say, "say cheese". I have an account in Instagram, which not only seals, selfie and food. I love to take pictures of sunsets and sunrises. I was very upset when the hand is not the camera and 3-megapixel camera smartphone is not able to transfer half of the beauty that I want to capture.
I never thought about how to go on a photography courses or learn to work well with modern photo editors. Yes, that really there'll be honest: I never even thought that the photograph may be of interest to me.
What I concluded from this: Now I'm thinking about how to enroll in a photography course. And no, I do not want to make it a matter of life. Let it be an enjoyable hobby.
Fifth. On the basis of what has been suggested: refrigerator magnets on a lot of different cities of Russia and other countries. In the bedside table there is a box with a variety of cards to see that and want to buy a plane ticket. And the kitchen has a few cups, which indicate that their mistress visited at least three countries.
Why is this discovery for me: because I love to travel, but my piggy cities and countries have not yet so great, in spite of all the trophies.
What I concluded from this:erroneous. As a detective, which inspects the home a stranger, I assumed that there lives a person who travels a lot. But the man who lived in this apartment, I know that more than half the cards, magnets and other souvenirs I brought friends and relatives.
After completing this exercise, you will surely learn something new about their hobbies and about my character. And who knows, maybe you finally realize what you want to do with my life. It is exciting to try. :)
One of the main rules: do not be afraid to ask for help
The leitmotif of the book: do not be afraid to ask for help from others. No one can achieve huge success alone. And if you do not believe me - read the autobiographies of successful people. They always had someone who helped them, and no matter how - life advice, money or simply introduced them to the right people.
Any man in your life can help you achieve what you really want: your family, friends, friends of your friends and friends of your friends. With the proviso, of course, if you do not hesitate to ask for help. Who knows, maybe you will be able to assemble a team of associates who will work towards the same goal.
