A new way to prevent muscle cramps

Nobel Prize winner Rod McKinnon (Rod MacKinnon) has found another way to prevent seizures. Now that you know what to do, so that the muscles are not given the failure at the wrong time!
For decades, scientists and experts in the field of sports medicine have assumed that the spasm - this is the result dehydration muscle (Lack of moisture and electrolytes). It causes pain and cramping, which can be removed only with water and electrolyte drinks.
Now, more and more experts believe these arguments are wrong. Nobel Prize winner Rod McKinnon found out that the cause of seizures is not muscular and nervous. One thing is when we experience great physical exertion and our muscles get tired, and water reserves are depleted. But why, then, we can catch a cramp, just lying in bed in the middle of the night? Or why Craig Alexander (Craig Alexander) suffering from leg cramps in the first few minutes of Ironman race when all the body's reserves were still the norm?
McKinnon himself felt the what muscle cramps, when 10 years ago he cramped hands while kayaking. Dehydration and lack of micronutrients in the case had absolutely nothing to do with it. And it was after this Rod and his colleague neuroscientist begun to search for the real cause of seizures.
Instead of focusing on the muscles, the researchers hypothesized: the nervous system sends impulses to muscles and sets the wrong agenda. Perhaps people could avoid convulsions, if able to adjust the excessive stimulation of motor neurons?
After studying on this subject, McKinnon decided that it is possible to control the operation of these neuronal excitation via receptors in the oral cavity and esophagus. This usually happens when we try to swallow spicy food. Tangy flavor overloads nerve receptors, creating a kind of analgesic effect. Such a powerful touch signal suppresses the motor signal.
Could it be the suppression of such a signal, like cramps, dangerous? Maybe he plays the same role as otdorgivanie hand from a hot stove? After a careful study of this issue Dr. McKinnon came to the conclusion that from muscular pain as a result of seizures, there is absolutely no practical benefit. It does not help to prevent injury and will not help us to survive.
Using himself as a lab rat, McKinnon began his experiment. He was preparing drinks with different severity levels using ginger and cinnamon, and tried to induce seizures at using electrical impulses.
As a result, his hunch was confirmed: cause cramps after eating spicy drinks was much more difficult. Next, a series of experiments was carried out, and they too confirmed his theory.
After that, the development of means of cramps approached more carefully. Now a special spicy drink mixture of ginger, cinnamon and cayenne pepper can be bought in US stores.
And while we have such drinks are not sold, we offer a recipe spicy flavored water, which is quite descend for such a remedy. However, before you drink it, make sure that you do not have contraindications (for example, problems with the gall bladder or pancreas).
