One of our very good friend, Alexey TaranenkoI decided to start running almost immediately after the start of the project "Run layfhaker Run". And on the day when we had live broadcast of my race.
At first it was hard and uncomfortable, but then Alex had read the book "Running with Arthur Lydiard" and, as I understand it, he was not there to stop. Looking at the pace at which it increases its distance, I felt a little uncomfortable because I knew very well what it all might lead. When Alexis started to hurt leg and he was in thought, run or take a break, my careful observation, "A can break? ", he received some advice from a particularly zealous runners in the style of" This is you just the body gets used. No stops! ".
I'm also pretty quickly gaining momentum. But I had a good physical preparation, I knew very well what rate I can take, and I had the unfortunate experience of sports injuries, which lasted for a year. Now I understand that stretching, I received 13 years in training in acrobatics, went in my favor - I was now nowhere in a hurry and very carefully calculate the forces. So when Alex wrote that leg hurts quite a long time, I immediately asked him to slow down.
Outcome: Alex went to the doctor, got a severe reprimand and a calm mode for feet and a light treatment for three weeks. This does not discourage the desire to run, only now it will make a short break and start all over again to have a more moderate pace.
And Alex was not lazy and wrote an interesting post about the experience that was. I think that reading it will not only be interesting but also useful for the same "bustler".

This was supposed to be a fun, positive and motivating a post about how a person who has never He was able to run for a month joined in a running stream and began to easily overcome a ten distance. But the oncoming three weeks almost one hundred kilometers, I suddenly (as I thought) almost got a pretty serious injury, which forced to look at everything in a new way and to share their experiences. From which, it seems to me, the benefits will be much greater than that of another success-story.
I never knew how to run. School three kilometers always seemed monstrous challenge, with whom I never manage. My parents strongly guarded against excessive physical exertion, so I assume that the child painful and the sport is not predisposed. Therefore, in the course were medspravki, health groups and other nonsense, which, however, does not prevent me from spending all the changes and physical education on the basketball court. Three times I tried to start running, infected with the culture in the movies, it is necessary, when it was necessary to prepare for the exam for physical training at the military department. The result, as a rule, there was one - showered in a month or two. And when the IRA began its project "Run Layfhaker Run" I could not run, and two kilometers without having to not go back and catch my breath. But then I came across the book "Running with Arthur Lydiard," I realized that I did everything wrong, and start again.
The process went surprisingly well, starting with 15-20 minutes at a speed of 8 minutes per kilometer I started pretty fast progress. And soon I could run five kilometers and more, spending every 7-7.5 minutes. Arthur Lydiard took as a basis for a program for amateur and off they'd go. I contracted a run, began to build around your schedule and runs shyly thinking that next year is too early, but after a year I do run a marathon Kiev. Even took part in the rally "autumn leaf" in Brovary, running 9.2 km in 59 minutes (there is nothing to be proud of, but personally, it was a super result for me). But now, quite suddenly, I rested for two days on this run, came in the morning, five ran at the same pace 6:10 per kilometer, and when he got home realized that I could barely walk. While still running like anything but an hour later he could not get on the right foot. The hope that "will pass by itself" is not justified either the next day or two, or five. And it ended up a visit to the Institute of Orthopedics, where a preliminary diagnosis - a stress fracture. Which, fortunately, it was not confirmed, and only transformed into overdrive bone minimally appropriate treatment. The reason for the same was not diagnosed earlier flat first degree. And the benefit of that turned and found the reason. It would cease to be ill, started to run again. And there already before the stress fracture of the hand.
I'm not going to run and throw, the more someone agitate against. I really like it and I hope one day to still go to the start of the marathon. It is only that before they get involved in a serious need to check your feet for suitability, identify defects of the foot and choose the right shoes. And absolutely do not rush to raise the load. Jogging (jogging) - it is seven or more minutes per kilometer. The same Arthur Lydiard recommended not accelerate at least six weeks. And it is in vain, I did not listen. Nothing, three weeks ahead of the rest, in running shoes will lodge orthotics, and "sly" start anew.
