Today, Apple has received a patent for a new type of stylus with a set of pens that can detect input when writing on a variety of surfaces, which allow you to write on paper, whiteboard and screen iPad, reports AppleInsider.
For greater efficiency in the stylus design uses accelerometers and other sensors that monitor it position in space, which clearly define when the stylus is taken in hand, touch them, or store paper case. Data is transmitted in real time or at regular intervals to conserve battery power (approximately the same principle is used in fitness trackers).
The patent specification states that owing to 3D-sensors, the stylus is able to recognize user's handwriting equally well, regardless of the surface on which you are writing, whether desktop or vertical wall. It can be used for live "broadcast" of what you write across multiple displays during meetings or lectures.
Also in the patent is described the possibility of the stylus to work with multiple pens for writing on a variety of surfaces. For example, ink pen on notepad for taking notes, graphite - for pencil sketches a marker - to boards. Capacitive pen would allow it to operate as a traditional stylus for iPhone or iPad.
It is noteworthy that the patent application was first filed in January of 2010. The technology described in the patent can be a real challenge to existing competitors. For example, the decision by Livescribe (the company specializes in this sort of thing) still require to work effectively additional equipment, such as special notebooks. Taking into account the fact that Apple has invested in this area, especially given rumors 12-inch iPadFor which the stylus would be a great addition, it can be assumed that the company will not be put off this patent on the back burner.
