Recently, I realized that I really need a second display. Starting with the search of best monitors I finished applications in the App Store, which allows to turn the iPad or, God forbid, iPhone in the second display to the computer.
The most popular and interesting option was the Air Display 2 app developers who promise to make excellent second display iPad for only $ 10. Is it worth it to spend on such an application only $ 10? I'll tell you below.
During the short time that I use a Mac, i was able to get used to a smooth, fast operation of the computer. To be honest, I thought the same thing will happen with Air Display. To start using the app you need to purchase it from the App Store and download the server part (free of charge) from the developer.
Then, go to the app on the iPad, to register there a computer port and to connect them to each other. Despite the fact that in a review application to the App Store has a lot of resentment that the device does not connect to each other, I have everything turned out right the first time and without any problems. Adjust the location of the second monitor relative to the first can be in the computer's system settings, in the tab "Monitor".
Now I talk about the work itself application. Describing one word - terrible. The first problem I encountered - it freezes or lags wild browser tabs on the iPad screen. Page moves with jerks, you can forget about smooth scrolling.
The second and no less terrible problem is that the Mac application windows are not optimized for the iPad screen size. Hitting a cross or other active element is simply impossible. Stretch the window is also difficult because of the lag and minor elements.
The Air Display, you can manage the windows on the iPad using tapov the screen and keyboard called. It is great and works well, but again, the brakes all the spoils.
As you have seen, use the iPad as an additional screen with a browser it is impossible. The only viable option I see the work of the transfer elements of the program on the second screen. For example, toolbars with Photoshop. However, they do not scale automatically.
Air Display Connect for WiFi devices without any wires. And the bad news is that if you have a weak Internet channel, the elements on the iPad will lag even further. Although it would seem, it has nowhere to go. Good news is that Air Display 2 works with computers on Windows, and on Mac.
Overall I can not recommend the Air Display 2 to buy. In words, the concept of the application looks great, actually work this way is simply impossible. If you urgently need a second monitor, but to spend the money for a full buy you do not want to, you can try, but you will surely be disappointed.
