Purging Mac: what it is and why you should not be afraid

Recently, my MacBook Pro was crazy - just so and no reason to extend the fan speed to the maximum, making about the same noise as the airliner taking off. No overheating, no load or any other shocks at the time was not, and I tell you the truth, not a little frightened. History, fortunately, ended with a happy endom, but this case is great spoiled my nerves. I want to save your details and tell us about what happened.
As I said before, any resource-intensive applications at the time was not running. I've been working, sitting at the table and quietly typed text into Writer Pro. Usually my MacBook cooler idly revolves at 2000 rpm, maintaining the temperature at about 45-50º C but turns suddenly climbed to a maximum of 6200, as many as the temperature dropped to 35º C. Then I showed some regularity - if you do not touch the MacBook Pro a few moments, the speed drops to 2000, but as soon as I touched the trackpad or keyboard - start all over again.
Any glitch, I thought, but after either a reboot or power-cycle the laptop did not help - I was worried. Well, apparently a glitch, but more serious, I decided, and began to sort through
all that I know reset means SMC, PRAM, and others. with the support pages Tips dedicated to this issueI also did not help.I tried to boot a guest account, boot into safe mode with boot disk - the result is the same. When the fan turns at minimum speed, and then sharply increases their maximum. It remained only to reinstall the system, but something tells me that it does not help.
I regularly brush your MacBook from dust, and worked almost always at home at the table, so that it practically does not accumulate inside. But you never know, maybe the truth is clogged radiator? Delov a couple of minutes - turned off the Mac, turned, turned back the ten screws and lifted the lid - almost virginal purity. Subtle patina of dust on the cover itself, and the blades of the cooler, the radiator is clean - all the edges viewed against the light. Wonders. Just do not overheat.
In general, I almost despaired and told about the trouble in the editorial chatting, knowing that colleagues advise me to apply to the service. But I was wrong! Sasha Zhurovich reassured me, telling about the so-called purge - programmed functions of the system that performs just such prevention. Strange, but over the 3.5 years I worked so never faced, and then, without any warning, and on you.
It turned out that it really is blowing - the process when Mac fans spinning at maximum speed for 40-50 minutes. Sasha, he said, it took forty minutes, at me for about an hour, but I had all this time to work on the MacBook, because in simple turns for some reason fell and the process was interrupted.
I tried to find any official information on this subject, but found nothing. Perhaps bad looking, maybe it is a rare phenomenon, but mention of it on the Internet is very small.
That's the story. If this happens with your Mac, do not panic, and check the readings of temperature sensors and the load on the processor to eliminate these factors. Then just ensure good ventilation and allow the Mac so much time to purge as necessary.
