May 19, 2014 Liquidmetal Technologies and Apple introduced the second amendment to its agreement under which "Fruit" company extends its exclusive right to use "liquid metal" in their products in another one year. This may mean that in Cupertino are preparing to release a revolutionary product that will not be unique.
For the first time Apple has received exclusive rights to the use of technology Liquidmetal back in 2010. Then for the first time, there were rumors about the creation of next-generation iPhone in unique body. Since then, it's been 4 years, but other than staples and tray for SIM-cards, the use of amorphous alloys has not progressed further.
Analysts attribute this to the unfinished product. Apple is famous for using techniques that have been brought to perfection or close to that.
Back in 2012 the representatives of Liquidmetal Technologies announced a low probability of the use of their invention in the next 3-5 years.
"I would not say that Liquidmetal perfected. This technology is still not ready and still improving. The development of amorphous alloys - promising, but not yet studied until the end of the direction. While we can not use all their potential to the full "
Licensing this technology, according to analysts, may contribute to the rapid growth of the company on the market consumer electronics in case of issuance of a unique combination of stunning user interface and industrial design. Just this fall, Apple plans release 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina screen. And, perhaps, something completely unexpected.
