Known in FTP-client ForkLift 2 came out of Beta stage

This week I was the official release of the updated version of the beloved by many FTP-client ForkLift 2. Now the program is rewritten from scratch, became even richer easy to use features. Similarly previous version, ForkLift 2 works with FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, Amazon S3, iDisk, SMB, AFP and NIS.

Like other FTP-client, data ForkLift 2 can be stored on a remote server using Droplets program and implements synchronization between two folders (both remote and located on the same computer) automatically, using the Synclet.

In the second version of the client completely redesigned interface, it has become more beautiful, sometimes even better. As before there is an opportunity to work in two pane view, add to it Favorites menu, updated performance indication system problem and enhanced navigation features using the keyboard.

Special attention should function stack (Stack), like there is in PathFinder. With its help, you can temporarily collect in one place the files for performing them one and the same action. you can turn any group of files in the stack and, if necessary, even to work with multiple stacks.

Another worthy feature - Workspaces - it provides fast switching between workspaces, a set of tabs and the ability to open at the same time a pair of folders. (Fig. 01_ForkLift2_2)

It can not fail to please and an updated set of tools to add even more functionality to the application. Among the novelties Trash App, the program to quickly remove the file and its contents. Advanced Search allows you to quickly find and select the files thanks to advanced filtering system. Another feature helps to rename a lot of files in one go (although we have already seen in the first version of the client, but in ForkLift 2 improves the interface of this function).

It is difficult to list every single innovation in ForkLift 2, but we can safely say that this app claims to be the best FTP-client and file manager. Program worth $ 30 and for $ 20 you can upgrade from a previous version. For $ 50 anyone can buy the family version for use on all Mac computers in the house. Also, if you've got a program recently (within the past several months), you can upgrade it for free, simply enter the old license key in the special form on official website and e-mail address will be sent a new one.

From personal experience with ForkLift 2 after the first version (v1.78 if I remember correctly), I can say the following: Version 2.0 is quite often crashes (several times a day), but after a couple of days it is updated to version 2.01, and the problem disappeared. The Info tab has moved to the right pane - now to view information such as an image file, it is necessary to scroll - it's not always convenient. On the other hand, it has become more free working space for files and folders. The most important thing of all - a file manager is 64-bit and greatly added to the performance. Movement between folders and files instantly (old version often "thought") - this is very good.

Like function and Transfer Queue, when the task of copying files line up reminds option F5 → F2 in Total Commander, but it's implemented more beautiful. Well, the program has become really beautiful graphics effects appeared Pop-up "rubber" windows, and other amenities.
I think ForkLift 2 for people for many years worked with the File manager on Windows, the best alternative on Mac OS X. But if you do not have every day to create the pile of folders and files (like me, for example), often something somewhere copy and move, it is quite possible to manage and Finder - it's much better and more convenient "Explorer" in the Windows.
