I've been three years it does not use anti-virus software, but use Windows last three years. At first it was Vista, even starting with the beta versions. Then it was the normal Vista, are now - Windows 7. And never, I repeat - never, I have not had in the three years to viruses laptop. Rather I have them in a special archive, exactly 100 pieces - for testing all kinds of antivirus programs, but I never would pick up any infection. Why?

Stories that Windows systems are not safe, are greatly exaggerated. Suffice it to observe simple rules, available to ordinary users, to reduce the likelihood of a virus attack to almost zero.

1. Use rights division. Determine for yourself the right to a standard user. Particularly easy to do in Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Use administrative privileges only for special occasions.
2. 99% of viruses come to you from the Internet. Use the security settings in the browser. I will not say in public, because in the latest versions of all browsers have advanced security settings (yes, and in IE too).

3. Visiting questionable websites, use the "anonymous" modes. Directly from the browser can be run in Internet Explorer (InPrivate Browsing) and Google Chrome (Incognito). To provide such a regime in Firefox you need to put a separate plug-in, but for Opera and Safari I have such regimes, unfortunately, I do not know.
4. Categorical attitude to e-mail. Do not assume that a letter from an old friend will be absolutely safe - remember that before you get him to you, it passed through several completely beyond the control of you and him computers.
5. Control your computer by using a firewall. For Windows XP advise to put a separate, since the internal does not control outbound connections. In Windows Vista and Windows 7 has its own, different firewalls - do not disconnect them.
6. And, of course, do not open suspicious files - your intuition, it usually fails.
