The recently released OS X Yosemite has not become a discovery for me (I have tried many features still in the early "betas"), but a system with interesting functional features - no doubt. Besides interesting Handoff and the Continuity, useful Family Sharing (although it is more related to iOS 8) Apple has finally provided the ability to record video screens iOS-devices without any additional applications. Now it can be done with standard system tools. Let's see how.
In order to make a new video from your iOS-device, connect its cable to your Mac. Unfortunately, wireless streaming video and subsequent recording on the screen is not provided. This is partly understandable, because in this mode can be very "sink" frame rate, and video quality is far from ideal. Once the preparations are complete, you should follow a few simple points:
- Start the Quick Time Player on your Mac with the installed OS X Yosemite.
- The top line of the menu, select "File - New video".
- Next to the red button start recording, click on the little arrow to display the shortcut menu and the submenu, select the camera connected to a computer device.
In the same menu you can also set the video quality, but at the same time to indicate the source of recorded sound (for example, you can take the sound is not with iOS, but with a laptop microphone).
- Press the red record button to start the process. Now all the actions that you perform on your iOS-device will be automatically recorded.
- press the "Stop" button to stop recording (white box in Quick Time).
- To save the video, select from the top menu "File - Save ...".
Finally small remark regarding the recording and subsequent reproduction process. If you decide to do some video instructions, remember that recorded everything that you do on your gadget, including passwords entered by you. Be careful, because they can take advantage of.
As for playback and video quality - they are great, and this is probably the best word. Record looks several times better than when using third-party applications. It remains only to wait for the opportunity to make a recording without the use of wires.
