Shazam has launched its first desktop application

Typically, companies are focused on desktop versions of their applications, postponing the launch of mobile applications for later. With the popularity of the service identifying Shazam music, everything happened exactly the opposite.

Detection technology tracks worked exclusively on mobile devices since 2008 (before that it was a dial-up service). And now, when Shazam appeared on the desktop in the form of Mac-application, users will be able to identify the music played on the radio, TV, or in advertising.

Shazam for Mac is a tiny widget, which is located in the menu bar and do not manifest themselves until then, until the any music. Once this happens, the application will notify you with information about the playing song.

Shazam works equally well with the music being played on a poppy and sounding from the source, at a distance (in this case it makes no difference if you're using at the moment headphones or not).

Shazam strong side for Mac is the definition of the background tracks, which saves you from having to run application, when you hear an unfamiliar song (as it is on iOS) and motivates users to more frequent the use of the service. The iOS-app Shazam has such a feature that allows you to work in a continuous monitoring mode, but in this case would have to say goodbye to charge the battery of your iPhone, but not so on the desktop decision.

Application for Mac also helps the service to go beyond its usual functionality as a conventional tool for identifying music. Each notice a link to the constantly updated website Shazam, which now contains the lyrics and more useful for various music stores, referral charges which form part of the profit service.

Increased attention to the desktop platform may also be evidence of other purposes, namely the transformation of the service definition tracks in full streaming media service. The company recently announced its cooperation with the service Rdio, which will result in the opportunity to listen to the tracks directly from the Shazam application. "The idea is that this will be a place where you can find great music, and not just a quick answer to your question", - said Denker.
