Due to the high sales of tablets and smartphones Apple will move away, but Android will continue to be a market favorite.
On Monday, analysts from Gartner sounded its forecast that sales of devices based on the "apple" of operating systems Mac OS and iOS in the number exceeding the number of sold devices based on Windows in 2015. Leadership Change happens in about 13 years after Steve Jobs revitalized Apple's, releasing the iPod and put the company on a new path, so that she was able to conquer new markets and to impose its laws, starting with the music player and ending phone and tablet computers.
According to Gartner, last year at the delivery Windows products are still outnumbered products running on Mac OS and iOS in the ratio of 347 million to 213 million. The difference will be reduced to 23 million in 2014, and a year later OSes from Apple, as suggested Milanesi Carolina (Carolina Milanesi) of Gartner, will gain greater popularity than devices for Windows. Milanesi also said that after a detailed analysis, it is clear that Apple is already the market leader consumer electronics, and Microsoft remains relevant thanks to a professional accustomed to Windows users.
The predicted shift reflects changes in the computer field where desktop computers and laptops are increasingly replaced by smartphones and tablets. Microsoft struggles to massively introduce Windows Phone 8, but mess with Windows 8 and Windows RT confuses many buyers.
Undoubtedly, Windows will remain an important operating system. Despite the fact that 2015 will be sold to a huge number of devices based on iOS, Windows so far installed more frequently. At the same time, this year the volume based on the Android operating system from Google devices sales will exceed the total amount of units sold with the operating system from Apple and Microsoft. Android has become the number one computer platform on new devices: in 2012, over half a billion devices work on this OS, against 559 million in Apple and Microsoft combined. This year, Android is expecting to receive a figure of 867 million, when both competitors this number will reach 636 million - are Gartner forecasts. They also believe that the delivery of Android devices in 2014 will amount to more than a billion.
In Gartner it believes that tablet shipments will grow from 120 million last year to 202 million in the current year and to 276 million in 2014, while smartphone shipments will grow from 1.7 to 1.9 billion. Meanwhile, PC sales will continue to fall over the next two years, as the plates and new "Ultra" hybrid PCs attract the attention of ordinary consumers and corporate customers. In Gartner expects sales of desktop and laptop computers will fall by almost 11% this year and 5% next year, mainly due to declining demand for laptops.
