We all know that nothing is perfect in the world there. Not perfect Windows, not perfect Android. Yes, it must be confessed - not perfect, and OS X, even the latest version of the Mavericks. Of course, problems in OSes kupertinovtsy a fraction, but she has a case of "hang". There are those who are "tightly" hang any element of the system, and apart from rebooting does not help anything. In this article I will show you some examples of how you can restart the individual hung elements of the system, without having to restart the entire computer.
For many manipulations we have to use the terminal, but nothing complicated operations there. Be careful: the team are case sensitive.
Finder
What happens is that it can stop their work. To restart it is usually enough to clamp Option button to bring the mouse cursor over the icon and press the right button. In the menu that appears, select "Restart." Unfortunately, this does not always help. Then use the Terminal:
killall -KILL Finder
We enter this command, press Enter and the Finder will restart immediately.
Dock
In addition Finder`a sometimes "hangs" and Doc. There no longer get rid of simple clicks of the mouse, as it is on it will not respond. Well, the whole terminal "head":
killall -KILL Dock
With this command, you guessed it, we restart the Dock. The process also takes no more than a couple of seconds.
Menubar
There are situations when both the upper menu line also refused to respond to any of your actions. The situation is similar: you have to restart it.
killall -KILL SystemUIServer
We enter this command, press Enter, and thus restarts the top menu.
OS X
Worse, if there comes a time when the whole system freezes or begins to behave incorrectly. In this case, other than rebooting us nothing will. Well, if that same restart can be done nominally: click on the logo with the apple and select "Restart" from the top menu. Sometimes the system takes no action to restart, as ever you shook on this item. In this case, again, open Terminal and type in the commands:
sudo shutdown -r
The system will ask for your administrator password and entered correctly then complete all the processes and steps into the boot. Thus you do not have to power down and stop the system in emergency mode.
And how often do you use the terminal on a daily basis? Tell us about it in the comments.
