Not long ago, Apple ceased produce set-top box Apple TV with a hard disk of 40 GB. But the device HDD with 160GB capacity dropped in price by $ 100, and now costs $ 229 (as previously cost Previous 40-gigabyte model).
As Apple has always belonged to the Apple TV as a hobby project, and think so far as to expand the sales market player.
Apple TV updates occur very rarely, more precisely, since the release of the software media player is updated once - before «Take Two» firmware 2.0 in early 2008. Next update is expected soon, and is designed to support the implementation of some features of the operating system Snow Leopard, such as QuickTime X protocol and HTTP Live Streaming.
It should also be noted that iTunes LP and iTunes Extras packages are part iTines 9, were created on the basis of JavaScript platform - TuneKit. developing content based on TuneKit good because it saves users from having use middleware such as Adobe Flash or Microsoft Silverlight to view content from via Apple TV. At the same time, developers of media content to be used in only JavaScript platform that will greatly facilitate their work.
In addition, Apple plans to provide compatibility with Apple TV HD standare, because the content is created in 1280 × 720 pixels. (That is, this format is too heavyweight for 13-inch MacBook Pro notebooks, at least for him playing into small laptop screen.)
It is also interesting that iTunes content tied to the meta tags HTML «hdtv-fullscreen» and «hdtv-cursor-off.» This may mean that the content is created specifically for Apple TV.
