Not the first time Apple's mapping service confuses people. Here is a recent example: Representatives of the International Airport Fairbanks (Fairbanks), Alaska, told a local newspaper that for the past three weeks, two motorists drove along the taxiway and through one of the runways bands.
If only Apple has not declined in the past year by Google Maps... In fact, the program does not allow such failures. At least in the case of this airport: in Google Maps get directions to the airport parking lot, but certainly not to the runway.
Airport reported that Apple has sent a complaint through the local prosecutor. "We were asked to remove the card Fairbanks as long as no defects will be corrected, because it's better, nothing will be displayed than there is a risk that another person will repeat the mistake ", - explained Melissa Osborne (Melissa Osborn), COO Airport. She added that the barriers were placed as a temporary measure, blocking access to the taxiway, and should not be removed as long as Apple has not bothered to update the maps. The problem still has not been solved, despite promises to settle everything to the environment.
"We are doing everything we can to improve the Maps", - he wrote in a letter to Tim Cook company apologized for the "misunderstanding".
And people persist in believing the cards - or rather, such major brands as Apple.
Airport officials say that on both occasions the drivers ignored the signs prohibiting travel on the taxiway. But why believe the signs when the iPhone hand, urge to go forward? And anyway, that this path leads to the runway, which is used by about 737 aircraft. It's good that no one was hurt.
Experts optimistic claim that in iOS 7 with navigation, everything is much better ...
Have you ever let service Apple Maps?
