New ABBYY FineReader Pro: the best program for text recognition on the Mac

Over 20 years, the company develops ABBYY FineReader blockbuster app for text recognition. Thanks to the advanced OCR-technologies developed by experts during this time, the program has achieved unprecedented popularity and established itself in the corporate segment. Now on the Mac The new version of FineReader Pro, until recently it was not so easy, but now everything has changed with the arrival of the new version of FineReader PRO on OS X.
The previous version of the product for OS X was, frankly, not very much and convenient. Interface "limp" on both feet, and so all the functionality was "wheelchair". However, the application performs functions assigned to it and did it remarkably well. Recently in sale the new version of the application, which, according to developers, got rid of "childhood diseases" and is ready to show their best side.
The interface has really changed for the better. The launch window is made in a minimalist style, and immediately offers to get started. Here you can add the desired languages, select the format of the output document, and specify the file to recognize text. Everything. Now you only need to wait for the process to complete and give the name of the processed documents, specifying its location. The logic of the program, by and large, has not changed and the sequence of actions is the same for Windows, and for OS X. Another thing - the speed of the application.
As a test document, I took a standard instruction for iPhone 5S (21,5 MB, 173 pp.), And "fed" it first updated version for the Mac, and then 11-second versions for Windows. The result was predictable: the quality of the text recognition all at the same high level, but the speed of processing of documents of a good. On my MacBook Air 11 (2013) FineReader finished in 2 minutes and 37 seconds, while Windows PCs (i5, 2.6 GHz, 8 GB RAM) for this required more than an 8-minutes. An excellent result, I believe.
But most of all pleased that the developers have added to this missing function. The new version of the application is not inferior to larger Windows-analogue - all what you're used to "Wind", and will be available on the Mac.
In addition, the application supports a wide variety of export formats, including even EPUB and FB2 - which means that you'll be able to create e-books to their portable devices.
That FineReader great I mentioned handles scanned documents - OCR on top. Text can be not only Russian or English. The application supports 189 languages (you only think about this figure!), Including Asian languages, Hebrew and Arabic characters. I do not know of any other applications that support not only the number of languages, but also in that capacity - clearly, there remains only the developers standing pat.
It is worth mentioning that, as for some reason, does not know a large number of users of the program. Apart from the usual scans of documents, FineReader copes with photographs. The camera of the iPhone 5 is quite suitable for a picture of the page and its subsequent processing. Text with photos well recognized, whether it is positioned vertically, horizontally or diagonally.
As a small, but very nice bonus in FineReader added the ability to turn dokumentamy two fingers on the touchpad using a MacBook or Magic Trackpad, if you have a fixed iMac.
Perhaps this is the most important advantages of the new version of FineReader PRO for the Mac. Full and professional version is now available on computers running OS X.
I am very gratifying that our compatriots have professionals who understand that the market is not limited to only one Windows platform, and therefore develop and maintain their software for other operating systems.
