We hope that this article will help you decide.
Glossy vs matte
Where did this opposition? After all, in glossy and matte screens are used the same LCD panel.
However, the manufacturers produce gloss and matte displays, while buyers are experiencing meal choice.
Consider the advantages and disadvantages of each coating.
Glossy displays a "bright". They have a rich, intense contrast and color rendition; especially deep blacks. That's a plus.
However, in the Sun, they gleam. This is a minus. If you frequently work outdoors or your workplace is at the window, the glare may bother you.
Matte displays have antirefleksnoe coating, which "quenches" glare. Therefore, in areas with bright artificial or natural light for such monitors to work more comfortably.
Lack of matte displays - fading. Color them look a little more dull.
Pros and cons of glossy and matte displays clearly demonstrates the photo on the cover. Left matt Dell, and on the right a glossy Apple.
What to choose?
It all depends on your goals.
If you need a monitor for a desktop PC, and the room is not too intense light, it is likely that you will approach a high-gloss finish with more vivid color reproduction.
If you buy a laptop and plan to frequently work outdoors (on the terrace on a sunny clear day), then look for a matte display. Similarly, when buying a monitor for a desktop computer in a very good light (a table by the window, powerful lamps). But remember: AR-coated matte display does not protect you from glare by 100%, but it will be a little less noticeable than on a glossy screen.
Of course, it is impossible to create an ideal environment for the whole period of operation of the screen (especially if it is a laptop). Today is your desk away from the window, and was transferred to the office tomorrow, plenty of natural light. Therefore, choosing a glossy or matte display, in any case, going to compromise.
(The picture is not only notebooks with a matte (left) and glossy (right) coating, but also various models of different generations. Please do not make direct comparisons.)
If it were possible to make the monitor, where at the click of your fingers matt finish would be changed to a glossy (and vice versa), many would be happy. After all, it would allow the "customize" monitor for specific conditions. But this is unreal.
Therefore, probably, the opposition of "glossy vs matte" will continue. After all, how many people, so many opinions.
