Docs, Sheets, Slides: in mobile Microsoft Office and iWork has a competitor
Web Services Technologies / / December 19, 2019
A month ago, Microsoft released its office suite for iOS. Despite the use of the scheme only on a paid subscription, the three applications have occupied the top positions in the top App Store. It seems that all this time the guys from Google haunted this is the idea. After all, today the largest search giant introduced its vision of applications for working with documents, spreadsheets, and presentations - Docs, Sheets, and Slides, respectively. And, frankly, it looks like a forced move in the struggle with its main competitors. The first thing you will notice the first time by running each of the three programs - they look like Google Drive, but with different color themes. In truth, having to split the functionality into three parts to it was not. All this has already been successfully carried out and Google Drive and QuickOffice - side projects of the search giant.
But back to Docs and Sheets. Ability to edit spreadsheets and text documents the minimum. font settings, background color, text formatting cells, in the case of tables, - that, in fact, all that can be done in these applications. The design is minimalistic and simple, but it's just at hand: nothing distracts you from your work and helps to concentrate.
Eventually
Before us is the case when the company went on a forced move under the pressure of competition. Nothing new, you will not see for yourself - this is a basic application to work with the main types of documents. But if you do not need more, and pay for the more functional alternative to Microsoft's and Apple you do not want - an office suite from Google will be your good helper. Meanwhile, Docs and Sheets are available for download in the App Store and Google Play, and Slides developers promise to add the near term. Do you welcome this division?
