How to cook chicken and gyros with yoghurt sauce

Gyros - Greek alternative to the more popular shawarma. It is easy to prepare at home, armed with a set of products from the nearest supermarket.
Ingredients
For meat:
- 500 g of chicken thigh / shanks (without skin and bone);
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice;
- 2 tablespoons olive oil;
- 3 garlic cloves;
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano;
- 1 teaspoon of dried mint;
- 1 teaspoon paprika.
For the sauce:
- 120 g of yogurt or sour cream;
- 1 small cucumber;
- 1 clove of garlic;
- 1 tablespoon minced dill;
- salt and pepper to taste.
Also, you will need 3-4 wheat tortillas, fresh tomatoes and arugula supply.
Classic gyros are often made from pork, but it is much cheaper and faster to use chicken. Remove the skin from chicken thighs and add them to the butter, lemon juice, chopped garlic and other spices: oregano, mint, paprika. Do not forget the generous pinch of salt.
Leave the meat to marinate in the refrigerator for at least half an hour.
Giros for the purchase can be safely used to make tortillas or pita yourself using our recipe.
Roll dough into fry and dry pan, cover cakes towel or film prior to use.
Get to chicken. Preheat a frying pan with oil and fry the meat for about 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked. Leave lie about 5-7 minutes before cutting.
Traditional addition Giros - yoghurt sauce cacık, which is prepared with the addition of cucumber and garlic. We decided to move away from the classic recipe, adding more and chopped dill.
Put a portion of sauce on the cake, spread the slices of tomato and arugula on top. Then put the sliced chicken and roll the cake in the roll.
There are better gyros once, not tortilla soaked to the abundance of sauce.
