3 reasons to see "Once in... Hollywood "- a film Tarantino, who discuss all

On the Russian screens out the ninth tape of one of the brightest representatives of postmodernism and auteur and a good director Quentin Tarantino. Does it work, of course, immediately attracts attention. After all, he knows how to combine the best of all references to classic films, humor, colorful characters and grotesque cruelty on the verge of comedy.
Tarantino has always remained true to his style, it does not hesitate to experiment with genres. But this time there is a feeling that the director decided to just remember the past, to mourn a bit of bright times, and at the same time entertain the audience.
And that's why, "Once in Hollywood ..." has turned out, perhaps the most spiritual master paintings. Although the events and really highlights in it much less than in his previous tapes.
1. This is a farewell to the old Hollywood
The plot tells about the actor Rica Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) - a star of westerns, whose career is gradually declining. He has acted in the role of villains in the series. Always close to the hero and his understudy friend Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) - kind and positive person, behind which seems to be a brutal crime.
While Rick is trying to save his fading career, Cliff helps him around the house and meets with fun girl hippie "family" Charles Manson. And at the same moment their neighbor - the wife of Roman Polanski and aspiring actress Sharon Tate - enjoying the first rays of glory.
If the description may seem that the plot of the film is simple-minded - the way it is. "Once in Hollywood ..." is developing very slowly. All the action is limited to just a couple of days.
But more importantly, that Tarantino practically abandoned sudden turns in the script (except maybe for one thing), and put to the fore not even the artists and Hollywood itself.
Even in one of the first scenes of the character Al Pacino Dalton tells the sad fate of emerging stars in circulation, and this becomes a leitmotif of the story. Rick here and there meets the more popular artists, met with the eight-year girl who knows about acting skills almost more than he did. Still better he understands that his time is running out.
Probably just as Tarantino sees today's changes in the movie. After all, he always treated retrograde, preferring to shoot without an abundance of computer effects. He still puts on a favorite, albeit sometimes aging actors.
And, perhaps not coincidentally, he took the lead role is DiCaprio: he recently often called «His Brand Is Excellence»: How Leonardo DiCaprio Became Hollywood's Last Movie Star "The last true Hollywood star." That is, an artist whose name has become an indicator of the quality itself. Tarantino seemed to hint that the new ones will not be: almost everyone is now forced to shoot in continuous work.
And because "Once in Hollywood ..." - overt nostalgia for the time when it was a little easier and more honest. It is no secret that the director loves old movies, just one of those times in which the action unfolds his pictures. But this era goes farther.
No wonder the "Once in Hollywood ..." to the traditional citation classics added a reference to the films of Tarantino.
Realizing that he has become a living legend, especially if he destroys the magic of cinema. No wonder the scene of Booth fight with Bruce Lee removed just long scenes - one of the favorite tricks director. And then Pitt is very noticeable and even brazenly changed to understudy. Despite the fact that he plays a stuntman.
Better yet, it is noticeable when shooting the next film is one of the dialogues Dalton begins to appear in the standard style Tarantino: the camera moves around the characters. But then it all breaks down, and it creaked back rides.
This is the movie about a movie that allows you to look behind the scenes of show business and see the actors in living people. Grotesque version of the style of the director. His favorite non-linear plot becomes very very strange: flashbacks can last longer than the main stage. Slow dialogue remove static camera, not even changing the angles.
And best of all this grotesque noticeable on the storyline, Sharon Tate. After all, if it is not needed. Tarantino most of the time just allows viewers to enjoy the beauty Margot Robbie: she is walking, dancing, watching a movie, in which she also starred and, and having fun with friends.
Although it is tucked away in this part of the main plot the course. But to understand it, to be better prepared.
2. It is a fiction on the verge of reality
It is no secret that Quentin Tarantino loves to refer to pop culture. But before all this was limited to radio broadcasts, popular music and cinema Quote classics. The only time he bound action picture with real characters - it's "Inglourious Basterds," which featured Adolf Hitler himself.
But "Once in Hollywood ..." develops as if in our world. Rick Dalton lives in the neighborhood of Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate, found at the site with the actor James Stacy, auditioned for a role in "The Great Escape", which eventually starred Steve McQueen.
Of course, to enjoy the picture, it is not necessary to remember all of these heroes. While those who know at least Polanski and McQueen is happening will seem much more exciting and witty. After all, even the director re-shooting some scenes from the famous movie.
But those who have not heard of any of Sharon Tate, nor about the sect of Charles Manson, it is likely to lose a lot. Therefore it is necessary beforehand to read about these characters at least a few common items.
In today's world, many people are afraid of spoilers even a biopic about the famous people like Freddie Mercury and Elton John. Perhaps because the tape of them look really interesting, and you can even surprise plot twists. But Tarantino's exactly the opposite case.
The more you know about real prototypes heroes and historical context, the better.
Several important atmospheric moments is built on the fact that the audience already understands gloomy hints. A short Charlie Tate comes into the house and asks the guest about the previous occupants, Booth meets girl and it drives up on a ranch Span, where he once shot westerns. It would be better to have these names meant something to the viewer.
And just the fact that young and solar Sharon enjoys life and is planning to have a baby, it is very important for disturbing the atmosphere. All this may seem like an unnecessary and pointless, injection without result. But only if you do not know how the story ends. But it is worth at least superficially understand - and you can feel the most stress when high points already hint at the tragedy.
Just do not forget that Quentin Tarantino has never sought nor documentary nor realistic. He shoots feature films. And "Once in Hollywood ..." is no exception. Yes, and with the title, replicating the traditional start of any fairy tales and fables.
3. This is again true Tarantino
You can talk about new and old techniques and explain complicated ideas director. Yet the main advantage of "Once in Hollywood ..." and the main factor that attracts audience to theaters, remains the following: this is a film by Quentin Tarantino.
And fans of the master does not disappoint. Directed everything just works great with the actors. DiCaprio, for all his great merit in Nolan, Scorsese and Inarritu, revealed a whole new way. Brad Pitt plays as if he's just fun to be on the set. And Margot Robbie is incredibly charming, and about their favorite foot fetish Tarantino has not forgotten.
The rest of the pets director also drop. Sometimes, even in very small roles, pleasing the audience familiar faces and skill.
Tarantino again throws up a considerable share of the grotesque and text jokes. Here, comedy, perhaps even more than in all his previous works. And he takes very stylish, mimicking the classic footage and creating a unique visual imagery: it looks as if descended from the photos of the late sixties.
Quentin Tarantino has long been said that the lift of life of all 10 films. It is not known exactly what he will be engaged on. But with the past - both his own and Hollywood - he's already said goodbye. Bright, touching and very witty. So as soon as he can.
