In my opinion, the new VIP-contact function the built-in Mail program is one of the major improvements in the latest version of the desktop operating system, Mountain Lion. With it you can safely control the amount and notification settings for new messages from important people for you. VIP-contacts are especially important for those users who are actively working with e-mail and received a lot of emails on a daily basis.
However, not all so simple. According to Dan Moren, Editor Western edition of Macworld, The last time he began to notice a very strange behavior of the notification - with a difference of a few moments Mountain Lion displays at once two banner for a single letter. Do you know a similar problem? Then gladly we present you a possible solution.
Dan writes that the problem appeared after a while after you upgrade to Mountaion Lion. At first it did not bring any inconvenience, but after a few months of observation annoying bug his patience snapped. Whatever it may have been an important contact the sender immediately receive two notifications of new mail - it's too much.
After a study of the problem was found that the fault lies not only on the side of the Mountain Lion and the Mail system, but also on Google. In particular, the glitch was caused by the timing of your Gmail account via IMAP labels. In other words, Gmail may place one letter at once in two (or more) folders, and Mountain Lion Mail, and view it as two separate letters, so the user can see both the notifications.
In the case of Dan problem arose because the label "important" in Gmail. Initially, this function is designed for sorting of the letters so that the most important ones first attracted your attention. She copes with the stated idea, even too much.
The solution was found in the Apple Support forums and it was surprisingly simple. You just need to log in to your Gmail account in a web browser, go to settings, switch to the tab "Shortcut" and uncheck "important" (see. screenshot above). If you and then comes on the two notifications, try to disable IMAP for the remaining items.
