Makradar Technologies / / December 19, 2019
Everyone familiar with the situation, which is located far from where you need to explain something to you man. And almost always easier to demonstrate than wasted rend the air. It is for these purposes LICEcap created a program that will help you out, and it is absolutely free!
This little useful application is able to grasp the selected area of the screen and record straight to GIF-file. The program is incredibly easy to use, but has the same not function as the "big" screen toll recorders that use QuickTime. The only difference is that the output we have an animated GIF in place of the video.
After starting the program recalls a camera viewfinder. Scale the size of the window, drag it to that area of the screen you want to shoot, and press the button Rec.
Go through the available settings:
- the file name and save location;
- adding a header and its duration;
- time counter (in the lower right corner);
- handles mouse clicks;
- the number of repeat cycles of animation;
- opportunity to pause recording by pressing Cmd + Alt + P;
As you can see, the options are not many, but at the same time, it is quite enough. For a couple of minutes, you can jot down a decent video instruction.
Footage looks bad, fonts are read perfectly. By compressing the color image is distorted, but it is almost imperceptible. But the small size of the output file to a pleasant surprise, can not be said about the competitors, is saved as .mov and .mp4.
We can say that the application LICEcap just wonderful, considering it is free and flexible configuration. Although the fly in the ointment, as usual, has not done. Minus only one - it can not record the menu bar. This is due to the fact that the program covers only the area of the window, and in full-screen mode, not able to work.
However, their tasks LICEcap handle, so it can be recommended to be installed!
